Today we’d like to introduce you to Stephanie Barro.
Hi Stephanie, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I am a second-generation florist, started my career in my mom’s flowershop in a small town just west of Houston, TX. Worked for her throughout my teenage and high school years. Shortly after high school graduation, I moved to Southern California and continued my floral career in that area for about ten years. That is where I was introduced into the wedding and luxury floral market working for high-profile florists in the Orange County area. I met and married my husband during that time, then we decided to head back to Texas. I spent a couple of years in Houston managing a large retail/sympathy business and then headed to Austin. We have been here for more than 25 years and definitely call Austin home. Our business is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year!
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I have definitely seen the wedding industry change and progress over the past 25 years. We have seen the introduction of so much technology that we’ve had to adapt and incorporate. I now “meet” clients virtually and maybe never see them in person until the wedding day- that is something I never thought would happen. Of course, the introduction of Pinterest has turned our sector sideways – it can be either a curse or a blessing depending on how you embrace it. Overall, at the end of the day, we are still excited to be a part of getting couples married!
We’ve been impressed with Bouquets of Austin, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
We are currently celebrating our 25th year in the Austin market! We specialize in clean, contemporary and classic floral design. We are known for our excellent customer relationships and service- we love interacting with families as they plan and execute one of the biggest days for them. We have an amazing team- starting in our front office, our design team and our warehouse/delivery team – we could not do it without them. I am extremely proud of each and everyone and the job that they execute! Having been in this market for 25 years, we have a plethora of knowledge about venues and vendors and love helping a client build a great team for their wedding day. I am extremely proud of our reputation, both with our clients and our fellow vendors- designing beautiful flowers is our passion, building lasting relationships is our pride!
Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
The simplest things in life- a great cup of coffee/ a gorgeous sunrise/sunset to watching my team design an event exactly to a client’s expectations, no matter how big or how small!
