Today we’d like to introduce you to Cristina Nunez.
Hi Cristina, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My love for the camera began when I was younger and I started modeling and participated in beauty pageants, so being in front of the camera was something that I grew accustomed to. I also loved taking pictures as a hobby for friends, family. A few years ago, I decided to take photography classes as a hobby and to take better pictures of my two fur babies. Later I decided to take boudoir photos of my sisters and girlfriends. My passion for the camera and photography grew and I decided to do it more seriously. I invested in education with several professional photographers and mentors. What started out as a part-time hobby became my full-time love and now it’s what I focus on 100%.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
Sometimes in the struggle comes the real beauty. It has a way of showing us our own resilience and what we’re really made of. We don’t want to face it all the time, but it’s a good reminder.
Things are tough at the beginning of any new business. You’re trying to establish yourself, your client list, create something beautiful that they can treasure forever, provide a connective, fun, and professional experience for your clients, and also find daily fulfillment and inspiration in your work and the people you surround yourself with.
This past year has been a difficult year for everyone and especially for new small business owners. The photography industry has been affected especially for people like me that offer a full makeover and like to interact more with our clients. At the same time, slowing down on my life and not having that interaction with people help me to spend time with myself and create new projects. Also, having the support of my husband and personal mentors helps me to be positive and always look on the brighter side in every situation.
I am also blessed to have good mentors that I can connect with and I always continue with my education to stay current in the industry and keep growing and finding inspiration and challenge.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I help women radiate confidence through the use of connective and personalized photography. These images come to life through beauty portraits, boudoir and personal branding photos.
I take time to meet my clients and understand what they need and what they are trying to achieve. It’s so incredibly important to build a relationship and get to know the women I will be working with. This allows for their true selves to shine during our sessions.
It’s so easy for women to doubt themselves and create a negative narrative in their heads about why they don’t deserve to look sexy or empowered. Getting to know them before the shoot allows me to knock down those barriers and help my clients feel like the most ultimate.
I am so excited to get to know your readers more. At the end of the day, you’re going to select a photographer who makes you FEEL something. I hope to meet them all and start.
What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
The people. The music. The culture. The food. The outdoors. I LOVE EVERYTHING about Austin. I have been living in Austin for 11 years and there is no other place I would like to be right now. I love, love, love Austin!
