Today we’d like to introduce you to Jessica Alexander.
Hi Jessica, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself
I am a full-time photojournalist based in Austin, Texas. I have been in the Central Texas area for most of my life; Texas is home!
My work has been published in Rolling Stone (issue #1222), Modern Drummer, SF Weekly, Triathlete.com, E! Magazine, Texas Monthly, BET as well as Esquire Magazine. I have been an agency shooter for Getty Images and Futureimages and am a member of Professional Photographers of America and Nikon Professional Society. I am represented by Wireimage as both Jessica Alexander and JEALEXphoto.
I also currently run content creation for Flobikes.com! Catch me talking about bikes sometimes!
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I think the biggest thing to being a successful small business owner is to be resilient and to learn as much about running a small business as possible. The city of Austin has lots of great resources and also, it’s great to use a personal network of work colleagues!
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I have owned my own photography business for over 9 years now. I am known for my event, editorial, and entertainment photography. I have been published in several print and online editions of Rolling Stone magazine. I have designed and photographed the cover of Modern Drummer magazine. I also love writing and have been freelancing the last two years about adventuring via bicycle in the great outdoors.
Do you have any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
My favorite memory is realizing that I want to be a photographer and seeing that my father shares that same passion with me.
