Meet Shannon Davenport of Esker Beauty

Today we’d like to introduce you to Shannon Davenport.

Hi Shannon, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
During my 12 year career as a trend forecaster in beauty and retail in New York (consulting for brands like L’Oreal, Unilever and Beiersdorf) I was nonstop traveling. My erratic schedule left me with few options for combatting stress. However, I knew I could always depend on a relaxing bath at the end of the day. Now, as a mom and entrepreneur based in Austin my bathroom is my self-care headquarters. I created Esker to share these simple, soothing bathing rituals with others.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Not even close! Being an entrepreneur is a rocky course by nature. I bootstrapped the company to about a million in revenue, that was not an easy feat, and when it came time to raise capital it took a ton of guts and grit to get through it. I have experience in the beauty industry but I’m a first-time entrepreneur so I’m constantly learning.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Esker Beauty?
Esker specializes in the skin below the chin, with a line of body care only products. We believe that your body has a skin type too, and it should be treated accordingly. Esker products provide a head to toe ritual that is unique to the skin on your body. Esker’s products are made in the USA and have low waste, recyclable, or compostable packaging. All of Esker’s formulas are: made with organic ingredients, natural, plant-based, paraben-free, sulfate-free, Leaping Bunny certified, and cruelty-free. They are also suitable for pregnant & nursing moms. Esker is passionate about bodycare and demystifying bathing while creating a brand and community for ‘bath people’ as they do it. Esker has solutions and products for all age ranges, and they are all impeccably packaged and incredibly giftable. We’ve been featured in Vogue, Elle, Forbes, Cosmopolitan and count celebrities like Hilary Duff, Eva Longoria and Emma Robert among our paying customers.

So maybe we end on discussing what matters most to you and why?
We are building not only a beautiful product line, but we are changing the conversation around bathing. If you take a bath, can you actually get clean? Can you take a bath while pregnant? How long should you stay in? Our #bathpeople community is being built around demystifying bodycare and bathing in an open and aspirational way. Warm water bathing is proven to help with sleep, mood, skin health, and heart health, and I was surprised to find out how many people had access to a bathtub but weren’t exactly sure how to use it. I started the brand to share these bodycare and bathing rituals with other people.
