Today we’d like to introduce you to Sydney Johnson.
Sydney spends her spare time managing a community website called iHutto.
iHutto is your go-to website for everything you’re looking for in Hutto, Texas. It is your personal tour guide to all things happening in the Hippo Capital of Texas. From places to eat, things to do and see, to businesses, contractors, and valuable resources that are at no charge to you, iHutto is looking to put Hutto, Texas on the map.
Sydney is passionate about helping the small businesses and mom and pop shops of Hutto. She found a need in the community that didn’t shine a bright enough light on those businesses and so iHutto was born. Sydney offers FREE listings to all businesses in Hutto, small or large.
In 2019, iHutto was named Best Internet Marketing Agency. With almost 12,000 followers on social media, Sydney has been able to draw attention to the small town of Hutto while also engaging the community through positive social media posts as well as various community contests, such as the Best of Hutto Awards and the Best Decorated Hippo Awards. Both contests are voted on by the community.
Sydney also enjoys helping non-profit organizations with their marketing efforts, recently assisting the local food bank with marketing and design campaigns and redesigning their website.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It hasn’t been a smooth road, per se, but completely worth it. In an online world filled with so much negativity, Sydney knew it would take some time to help the community realize that iHutto was here to provide much-needed positivity. But once they did, it’s been a barrel of laughs all the way around.
Getting the word out about the iHutto directory took some time but now it is found easily on page one of Google.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
Sydney has released two coloring storybooks on Amazon called “Hippo Henry and Friends” and “Longhorn Larry” as part of her volunteer and charitable efforts to raise money for programs in the community and around Texas. Any revenue generated from online purchases of the books is donated to those programs.
What do you like and dislike about the city?
Hutto is a great place for those looking to get away from the hustle and bustle of big city life but with still plenty of things to do. With the growing diversity, there’s so much potential. It’s an exciting time in Hutto, Texas.
