Hidden Gems: Meet Hannah Eubank, Michael Shelton & Jeb Eubank of Pool Sharp

Today we’d like to introduce you to Hannah Eubank, Michael Shelton, & Jeb Eubank.

Hannah, Michael & Jeb, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
We started Pool Sharp because the three of us have a mutual love for building and creating.

My husband, Michael, has worked in the pool building industry for the past 13 years. He has always been interested in working with his hands and loves the challenge of large-scale building projects. We met in college at Texas Tech University and moved to the Hill Country in 2013 when Michael began working for the master pool builder in Austin. He gained tons of experience over his eight years of working there and always had a dream of opening his own swimming pool construction company.

As he was building his career, I became a local counselor and co-owner of a group therapy practice in South Austin. I’ve always loved the business side of things, especially the startup experience, and we would consistently brainstorm about the idea of opening our own pool building company over the years. Once we got married, these brainstorming sessions actually began to turn into plans.

My brother, Jeb, had graduated from Texas A&M University and was working in the landscape industry. We were energized by the idea of Jeb joining us to head up our design department. With Michael’s know-how of construction, Jeb’s experience in the landscape world, and my love of business operations and organization, a family venture just made sense.

Today, we’re headquartered in Dripping Springs and build pools in and around the area, including the communities of South Austin, West Lake Hills, Lake Travis, Kyle, Buda, Driftwood, and Wimberley. Central Texas is our home, and there’s nothing better than spending our days designing and creating in the beautiful Texas Hill Country.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Of course, we haven’t been immune to obstacles and challenges — especially with launching our business in the midst of a pandemic. Like much of the country, our industry is experiencing many material shortages. One of our greatest challenges has been actually getting our hands on the materials we need to deliver beautiful custom pools.

Working around these shortages has been a bit of a struggle, but we’ve learned to mitigate the inevitable with pre-planning and sourcing of comparable options. We also strive to maintain transparency with our clients so they know where we are in this process and allow them choice so we can make sure they’re happy with all final materials and design decisions.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Pool Sharp is a family-owned Hill Country custom pool building company. We specialize in pool and spa design, new construction, and full-scale remodels. We believe that what sets us apart from other pool building companies is our effective communication, attention to detail, and quality building standards.

One of our top priorities is our relationships with our clients. We aim to truly listen to client’s wants and needs so we can get designs just right. When building a custom project, communication is crucial, and by asking the right questions, we’re able to have a good idea of what a client wants before we even meet them. From there, we take in feedback so we can perfect the design to our client’s liking.

Not only do we prioritize communication during the design phase, but we do the same during the construction phase so that we’re all on the same page throughout the project. This open line of communication helps put clients at ease and ensures a smooth process. We have some great clients who really make our jobs enjoyable. Designing and building pools is fun, and when you have clients you vibe with, it’s even better.

We don’t build cookie-cutter pools. Our goal is to design pools our homeowners absolutely love. A pool isn’t just a space to cool off in the summer heat — it’s a place for gathering and community. We seek to carefully cultivate outdoor spaces so clients have lasting enjoyment with friends and family for years to come.

We go above and beyond, often exceeding industry standards, to ensure we deliver a pool that not only looks great but can stand the test of time. Because of this, we’re able to offer lifetime warranties on our concrete pool shells. We strive to build the right way and don’t believe in cutting corners in any stage of a project.

Do you have recommendations for books, apps, blogs, etc?
Jeb has really been into the “99% Invisible” podcast lately. The podcast dives in the process and power of design and architecture. The goal of the podcast is to expose the unseen and overlooked aspects of design, architecture, and activity in the world. He’s talked about how it has given him a new perspective on design that he hasn’t found anywhere else. We’d highly recommend it to anyone in a creative line of work.
