Meet Celine Elgrably

Today we’d like to introduce you to Celine Elgrably.

Hi Celine, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
My boyfriend of almost ten years at the time (we are now recently engaged) first had the idea for us to move out of state. Being from California, it was hard to move out from our parent’s homes and into a home or apartment of our own. Even with us both having degrees in different fields and our careers ahead of us, moving in together in our hometown was never really in the cards for us. Last November, we visited Austin, Texas with family for the very first time. Neither of us had any real intentions of moving here, but we were willing to explore our options, granted we didn’t really have any back home. Seven months later, we were back with more family to see more of the sites around the city that was beginning to feel more and more familiar to us. Fast forward to today and we have been Austin residents (aka Austinites) for almost one whole month. Time is moving fast and that is just a mere glimpse into how much our lives have changed in the last year.

I studied Marketing in college with a passion for helping people and an eye for design. Having previously worked in Interior Designs and as a creative director’s assistant, I’ve grown from rearranging spaces to creating digital assets and aesthetics for brands and companies alike through social media. Like most people my age online, I am exploring different avenues for myself; from being a social media manager for other companies to having my own creative direction on my profiles and growing in that space. I see my 20’s as a time for self-expression and self-exploration. In this, I’m looking forward to the constant feeling of evolving in what I do and who I am. Austin seems like the perfect city to fit in in that aspect with room to still stand out.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Starting something is never easy, especially doing it on your own. I come from a family of entrepreneurs so I have a constant inner battle with myself like, “well if they could do it, so can I!”, but “different time, different space”. Moving to a different state without my friends and my immediate family has been hard, even in the small amount of time we have been here. We went from living in the same place with the same people for 26 years to now being on our own in a different state, in a new city. It’s overwhelming at times and comes with its own struggles that can trump the goals you’re trying to put in place for yourself.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a manager of digital marketing for an agency, but I specialize in social media. I love being creative and working with clients in different industries from environmental tech, hospitality, audiovisual, and beyond. My creativity definitely shines more when I am able to bounce off ideas with my peers and learn more about each brand. I love the work I do because it’s a way of storytelling in a more visual way. Being able to work so closely with brands and companies is something really special. It can be intimate at times and definitely requires a level of trust and responsibility to take care of a brand’s integrity online.

Are there any apps, books, podcasts, blogs or other resources you think our readers should check out?
As a creative who was a little late to the photoshop game, Canva has been my best friend through and through. I’ve enjoyed using their platform throughout college and even now in my career and personal creativity. It’s my number one resource and its evolution has been amazing to witness.
