Today we’d like to introduce you to Heather Elliott.
Hi Heather, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
It all started as child watching, appreciating and learning my mother’s beauty routine. You see my mother used beauty as not a vanity tool but a beauty ritual that set a positive tone for her day. She used it as a tool to meditate, learn and spend a few quiet moments alone to ready herself for the day: all while using the natural light, a brown hand mirror on our South Alabama back porch. My mother always listened to something positive, and I could hear it blaring so she could hear it outside. When she visits, I can always find her in the mornings on my patio getting ready to start her day. I followed in her footsteps and after attending and finishing school, I realized that sharing this message with other women was necessary for making women understand that there was more to skincare, makeup and hair styling and as a creative, I could help pamper women for the special moments in their lives. It’s really something special to be a part of. I feel beauty is a way to love yourself and time to take care of yourself and I am sharing that with women.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Starting my business was done all on my own, completely self-taught and it took lots of trial and error, lots of hours in to figure out all the moving pieces to running a business that thrives since I didn’t at the time have the capital to hire a soul, to help me start my business. But, I am happy to say that all the hard work has definitely paid off and I can say I know how to start a beauty business off with a blast! COVID definitely threw a wrench into the momentum I had going for sure! But, to be honest, it was great to step back and look at ways to grow, learn new things and to pivot.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
My specialty is Helping Brides and Everyday Women through Cruelty Free Beauty service for Life + Love. I wholeheartedly believe in creating makeup that enhances my client’s natural beauty. I really think this sums up what makes me different and exactly what I do for sure. My clients would fall under Minimal Makeup Wears or non-makeup-wearers.
Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
Earthy, introvert for sure! As a little Heather, I was a child that stay outdoors, foraged and played in the woods, lay in the grass and was always on an outdoor adventure—ALWAYS creating something too! My brain is always thinking of creating! I always hung out with my dog and seemed to attract all the neighborhood pets. Definitely unique, happy, quirky, shy and yet confident in all things that I created. I honestly would say I am still the same! Lol.
