Today we’d like to introduce you to Ernesto Leal.
Hi Ernesto, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
In 2015 the situation in my country, Mexico, became very difficult. That’s when I decided to travel to the United States to pursue the American Dream. Although I would begin this journey with less than $500 dollars to my name, and leaving behind everyone close to me, I don’t regret a single thing.
After a lot of thinking and analyzing, I arrived in San Antonio, TX where I began to offer personalized Mexican crafts for houses, restaurants, ranches, graves, or any type of business, all this created with recyclable aluminum made in my country to later be imported.
Entering the market was difficult. I was unsure of who my target market was and where to push my products and services. To discover and understand the market since there is a lot of diversity of races and businesses, so much so that we even had to walk and knock on doors to offer our product.
It was difficult to the point of wanting to return to Mexico, but I was here with a mission and a dream and I couldn’t give up. As time went by, everything began to flow so that my own clients made recommendations for the product and other new clients looked for me.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Until today it has been very difficult, especially because you leave everything in your country, your family, your friends, your comfort zone…
I even had to leave Texas several times and go to New Mexico, Oklahoma, Kansas, California in search of new clients because the situation got a bit complicated.
Something that was also difficult at the beginning was the language since my native language is Spanish and I did not speak English, but thanks to time and classes I have been learning more and more.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Well, something we should know is that this was my baby business with which I started my dream in the United States, then over time, I decided to enter the construction industry and start doing exterior remodeling.
Something that my clients like is that we give a rustic and handmade touch to what we do, when they want something personalized, there are no limits for us and we try to meet the expectations of our clients.
We specialize in making doors, gates, fences, walls, painting, and the final touch is an artisan sign to place the number and name of the family on the property.
Something that causes me a lot of astonishment is that although I did television programs in Mexico, now I am a man who learned about carpentry, welding, painting and some other things about construction.
And that’s what life is about, never giving up and looking for new paths until you find the appropriate place to fulfill your dreams, we can all achieve it but first, you have to try.
Are there any apps, books, podcasts, blogs or other resources you think our readers should check out?
Without a doubt, TikTok hahaha, although it sounds comical, it is great to find so many people fulfilling dreams and achieving great things in the United States.
Books on entrepreneurship, business and YouTube are also my favorites.
