Today we’d like to introduce you to Danielle Martinez.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
The acupuncture journey for me began with an ankle injury back in high school, but I was unaware at the time. Three surgeries and hours of physical therapy later- I just could not get ahead of the pain and limited range of motion. Towards the end of college, my yoga instructor mentioned acupuncture as something to aid in pain management and healing. This was simply a gateway to a medicine that would later help heal deep grieving from a loss in the family. It was not until years later when I would deep dive into Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine with a complete awe for the way it could treat both emotional and physical ailments.
It was then when I discovered one of the best acupuncture schools was in Austin, and not far from my home. I deep dove into a four years Master’s Degree of Acupuncture and Chinese Herbal Medicine. Along the way, my lifestyles shifted, and I deeply healed. I also had two babies and became first and foremost a mother. There were twists and turns along the way, and my sense of community grew both professionally and personally. At this point, Women’s Health was my focus- I could not believe the missing pieces in healing from postpartum and transitioning into motherhood. I knew this was where I wanted to focus and began to grow my business.
Danielle Martinez Acupuncture & Wellness is a mama-owned business based in South Austin that dives deeply into Women’s Health—from hormone balancing and thyroid dysfunction to preconception care, fertility, pregnancy support, postpartum care, perimenopause and more.
We also work directly with emotional support (focusing on depression, anxiety, and postpartum depression) and pain relief (including athletic recovery, auto-immune disorders, digestive support, and seasonal allergies).
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It is always a journey to get to where you are currently at, so many moving pieces to fall into place. For a while, I worked for someone else, and it was a great growing experience. However, with two young babies at home I needed the flexibility of my own hours. I also felt really driven to support my new business with my passions for Women’s Health and motherhood. Pairing with like-minded practitioners in the Wellness Industry has been a turning point for sure.
The obstacles along the way have only lead for room to grow or gain deeper perspective. Being a mom and choosing to show up as present as possible, alongside a business owner always has its ups and downs! The growth never stops, which I am beyond grateful for.
