Today we’d like to introduce you to Angelique Vaccaro.
Hi Angelique, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I am a full-time stay-at-home mom of three. I was born in Grasse, France where I grew up. I married my childhood sweetheart in 2008, and moved to The United States a year later. We lived in Minnesota for 12 years and eventually moved to Texas to warmer weather.
Because my husband and I both have the privilege to have dads who are Italian with North African ties, we quickly realized that food was our main love language! Giving love through food is what we do!
I am a big introvert, so I have a quiet and shy personality. But I do love hosting parties and having friends over for meals. When we receive people in our home, my husband does the talking and I get busy in my kitchen!
I love to make people feel welcome, cooking for them is an honor so I give all my heart every time.
Even though I enjoy cooking, baking is my absolute favorite! I like improving recipes, experimenting, creating, and playing with textures, colors, and flavors… It’s like magic at my fingertips!
I can definitely say that the kitchen is my happy place and as I like to say: “Where there is food, there is love.” This is why I love to share my recipes with anyone willing to try!
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I have always liked to be in the kitchen, whether it was to help my parents, watch my grandma cook, or bake cakes with my friends after school.
When I noticed I was good at it, I wanted to try more and more recipes to eventually create my own.
I love to challenge myself and when I find something hard to make (like macarons or croissants…), I want to know if I can do it. I try until I succeed. I never give up!
When I realized my friends loved everything I made, I created my own website where I display all my favorite recipes. They also encouraged me to have my own YouTube channel which I recently decided to do. Learning to make my own videos and taking my own photos is definitely a lot of fun!
It has been a pretty smooth road so far and I look forward to reaching more people.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I cook and bake though I have never been to school to learn any of it. I am happy to say that I taught myself.
I would say that I specialize more in French desserts and breads. I am proud of my French heritage and being able to make complex dishes or desserts like macarons, baguette, canelés, or meringues (to name a few), and sharing my gift with people brings me so much joy!
I am far from perfect as I also fail sometimes…but it makes me grow and learning from my mistakes humbles me.
I believe that my cultural background sets me apart. Being French and living in the United States gives me the opportunity to share a little bit of France with people who appreciate French cuisine.
Do you have any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
I have so many amazing memories about my childhood! My favorite memory is when we made pizzas with my dad on rainy days. We used to have a pizza oven in the kitchen, and when the fire was lit we knew it was going to be a special night. My mom prepared all kinds of toppings for us kids to make our own pizza! It was a lot of fun. We then moved the kitchen table to eat in front of the fire and we watched my dad shove the pizzas into the oven. We always had the best quality times as a family when dad made pizzas! Such wonderful times!
