Today we’d like to introduce you to Abby Harrison.
Hi Abby, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I have always been appreciative of good food, good charcuterie and cheese especially! I often made large spreads of charcuterie and grazing tables pre-pandemic and they were always the highlights of our social gatherings. When Covid hit and I found myself with much less on my social agenda, it sparked my creativity. I looked to fill my evenings with fulfilling ways to spend my time. I dabbled in paint by numbers, macrame and stumbled across an Instagram where people were building incredibly beautiful edible works of art on cheeseboards and selling them. I told my husband, I can do that! So it began, I reached out to my close friends to see if it was something they felt would be well received, searched around my general area for similar products and decided to buy some high end charcuterie and cheese and see if it took off. Either way, it was going to be delicious and fun.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
So far, it has been a very smooth road! My products have been very well received, and I love to hear all the positive feedback from my customers. My friends shared their purchases online and I built a small following on social media through Instagram and Facebook.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
So I’m currently an ER nurse in town, I love what I do & I’ve been a nurse for almost nine years! I’m proud of finding an opportunity to grow myself in a more creative aspect of my life and see where the future takes me either in nursing or in the food industry.
Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
Austin has been so great with the amount of amazing food, the incredibly inclusive culture and the small-town feel even in a big city. Though it’s grown tremendously in the last five years that I’ve been here, there are still little pockets of town that feel comfortable and peaceful even. The traffic in Austin is the worst, isn’t that most people’s complaint? If we could get that sorted out-, it would just be DIVINE to live here.
