Meet Tania Maldonado

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tania Maldonado.

Hi Tania, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I was born and raised in El Paso, Texas. In 2015 I moved to Midland, Texas with my husband and son where I completed my Bachelor’s Degree in Criminology. I thought I wanted the law enforcement career, but it turned out it wasn’t me, AT ALL. I was working for an attorney when I decided that I wanted to start my own business, so I did.

In June 2019, I realized how much matcha meant to me and how it had been a part of all phases of my life; hence the birth of Avidan Matcha. A year later, my family and I moved to Austin. Yes, we moved in the middle of the pandemic, my website barely had any views and I couldn’t participate in farmer’s markets because they weren’t operating.

In August 2020, I reached out to @BartonCreekfarmersmarket, my main Saturday market. The matcha tea was selling on-site and online, I slowly started incorporating to-go matcha drinks, and I even had my husband fabricate a matcha cart for drinks and matcha treats. Every Saturday was market day! Amongst others. Things were better and I was so grateful!

We’re now in 2022 and my desire to continue sharing the greatness of matcha is still here. I have received so many compliments on the quality and freshness of the product, it doesn’t end here. Currently, I have reached a phase of re-brand for @Avidanmatcha; we’re coming back better than ever. I’m dedicating this time to dive into Web3 and discover our place in this new phase of the internet.

Everything grows. I’ve grown and so has the brand. I’m currently sharing my Web3 learning journey in a project called @we_are_akame. I’m covering the basics and working my way from there until I find where I and @Avidanmatcha are meant to be.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The pandemic would be the main one: 2020 and 2021 were years of learning and connecting with individuals more through social media.

I’m a mother of two; a six years old and a one-year-old. I definitely have to plan out my days and take advantage of free time.

Believing in myself isn’t always easy. It is something I try to work on everyday. I am worthy of so much!

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’ve been known as the “matcha girl” because it is one of the hats I wear❤️ But I am also learning Web3 and I’m ecstatic! I haven’t decided what I want to create yet, I’m savoring the learning journey for now.

I’ve got to say that I’m proud of the following recently; homeschooling, sticking to Pilates as my everyday workout, dedicating an hour of everyday to Web3.

What does success mean to you?
For me, success is having what you need (food, home, family) while living life in your own terms.
