Today we’d like to introduce you to Jennifer Tandoc.
Hi Jennifer, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I am an Abstract Illustrator, born in Manila, Philippines and grew up in Los Angeles, California since 1978. I graduated from California School for the Deaf in Riverside and went to National Technical Institute for the Deaf in Rochester, New York where I obtained my Associate Degree in Art and Computer Design in 2002.
I now reside in Austin, Texas where I continue to follow my passion in art.
I continue to thrive more in selling artwork.
My all-time favorite art tool, which makes my artwork outstanding, is the Sakura Pigma Micron pen. The pen comes in several line sizes and primarily use size 03, 05 and 08. All the Microns pens involves a pigmented ink that is chemically stable, waterproof, and lightfast.
I always draw everyday…
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Yes and No… I learned a lot from mistakes. It made me adjusting and get improve. For example, Someone suggested I to put limited editions on my art prints because it’s a lot of sold. I was like ohh, I didn’t know that. I decided to start and use limited editions on art prints. My challenge is to learn manage my time. I kept drawing all the day. But it’s not good health. I need to be balanced with time for spend with friends, my partner, pets and exercise.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am so inspired that I could draw many hours with a lot of details. Many people said wow, you have a lot of patience, I would give up easily. I feel like it’s normal to me but it’s not… because it’s my passion. What I am most proud of is patience and more passion.
Any big plans?
I want to travel anywhere world and take art activity and workshops with students. It’s a great educate for them.
