Today we’d like to introduce you to Sara Sedano.
Hi Sara, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I am originally from Colombia and I have been living in the United States for the past 17 years, where I live with my beautiful family, my husband, and my daughter. I hold a bachelors in International Relations, as well as a certification in Integrative Nutrition Health Coaching; my passion for doing a job that meets my purpose of contributing to the community-led me to join roles with an emphasis in social work, in which I had the privilege of making a difference in people’s lives by working for non-profit organizations offering social services for the most vulnerable communities from domestic violence victims, youth with severe mental health to formerly homeless families.
Because I decided to join a global company, I was able to recognize that this type of environment did not align with my beliefs, goals, and life purposes. In this quest to redirect my path, I found the Institute for Integrative Nutrition (IIN) where at first glance, it revealed what I was looking for, the knowledge and the necessary tools to be able to continue with my passion for helping others this time supporting women to achieve sustainable wellness holistically.
I thought I was healthy by eating a balanced diet and exercising regularly until I faced severe acne problems again in my forties, which made me take charge of my own health, as I wanted to go beyond temporary solutions with topical ointments or even worse, with rounds of antibiotics suggested by my General Practitioner; So I focused on finding the root cause that was affecting my physical health, self-esteem, and self-confidence, and I did it by healing from the inside out starting with my digestive health. It has opened my eyes to what it means to truly be healthy physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually, and how they are all connected. I’m a true believer that the body can heal itself and that sometimes we just have to get out of our own way! We must take a proactive role in getting healthy and staying healthy – I am passionate about helping others achieve that.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
One of the largest contributing factors and challenges in my healing process has been dietary changes along with lifestyle changes, emotional healing and stress management. It was not an easy decision to leave a stable job and income to follow my dream, but I do not regret being able to further my education and become a certified health coach with an emphasis on gut health. It has been a wonderful learning experience that led me to start my own business, something I was not planning. As a business owner, I had to strengthen my knowledge in areas such as online marketing, social media, and building my website, which has been challenging but at the same time very exciting and rewarding.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a certified Integrative Nutrition Health Coach and Certified International Health Coach (CIHC) with a specialty in gut health, with a mission and passion to help women heal inside and out holistically and naturally. My purpose is to guide women to transform their lives by improving digestive health first, as Hippocrates stated “all disease begins in your gut ”, but can be prevented if we take action by making sustainable changes in our diet and lifestyle. I work with women to integrate changes to their lifestyle and diet, thus healing imbalances in their well-being. I use an integrative approach to both diet and lifestyle changes to improve my clients’ health. I am an accountability partner, working as a guide for women that want to achieve overall wellness. My clients and I co-create an ongoing coaching plan to support their individual goals. While we discuss dietary nutrition, there’s a larger focus on non-food forms of nourishment like career, relationships, physical activity, and spirituality.
I feel fortunate to wake up every day to do what I truly love. I am honored to have the opportunity to walk alongside my clients and support them in achieving their optimum health and healing.
