Inspiring Conversations with Trenton Kinnebrew of Freedom Mosquito

Today we’d like to introduce you to Trenton Kinnebrew.

Hi Trenton, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
We always had mosquitos in our backyard and kinda just wrote it off as we live in Cypress so it’s something that we have to learn to live with. Then one weekend, my wife and I went out of town and when we got back, our son (Dean) was covered in mosquito bites. My Mom is old school and had him out in the backyard playing all weekend, so he got bit up pretty good. Then the next day, we had a friend come in from Dallas and told us about a mosquito spraying company and after looking into their services, they were pretty expensive and had to come out and spray every three weeks. So, I looked into buying the equipment myself and researched the chemicals to use and got to work spraying my own yard and it worked out great!! Then I thought about spraying a few friends and neighbors to offset the cost of the equipment and chemicals but after looking into what the requirements were, we found out that the State of TX doesn’t want just anybody going around and spraying chemicals on houses without being certified or having a license. So, it was then that my wife, Jennie and I then decided to do it right and we started our company, Freedom Mosquito. We are a fully licensed and insured pest control company that specializes in mosquito treatment and prevention and we also offer general quarterly pest control treatments. Neither myself or Jennie saw this in our future but we wouldn’t change anything about our journey and absolutely love what we do and helping our customers be able to enjoy their outdoor spaces.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
One of the challenges that we continually run into is that Mother Nature is uncooperative and can really throw a kink in our schedule. We can easily lose an entire week of spraying during the rainy season. That creates a scheduling challenge that can be stressful. Pest Control companies are an essential social service, so we were able to work without interruption during the height of the Covid lockdowns. With more and more people making the adjustment and working from home, we saw a huge increase in calls and demand for our services. The challenge became how quickly could we get out and get our customers treated so that they can get their kiddos out of the house and enjoying some quality mosquito-free time outside. It was a great kind of stress to have but stress, nonetheless.

We’ve been impressed with Freedom Mosquito, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Freedom Mosquito is a veteran and family-owned Pest Control company that specializes in the prevention and treatment of mosquitos. I was in the Marines Corps so I can appreciate the value and benefits of having multiple checks and balances in place for a daily routine. We provide a consistent and high-quality level of service that really sets us apart from our nearest competition. We do not require a contract so you can use us a little or as often as you’d like. After we spray your home, you are covered for four weeks, even if those pesky mosquitos come back sooner than your next treatment. All you have to do is send us a quick text or give us a call and we’ll come back out and get you resprayed at no additional cost to you. We always guarantee that we’ll do everything that we can to make your yard and outdoor space enjoyable again. We also offer 1/2 off the first treatment for veterans/military and all first responders.

Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
Never turn down an opportunity to learn from someone or listen to what they have to say. Even if it’s in a different field or profession, you never know what small tidbits of knowledge or advice could be of a huge help to you.
