Today we’d like to introduce you to Kendra Crabb.
Hi Kendra, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I started as a music major working in retail who just liked to work out and support others. I began competing for the challenge of it and absolutely fell in love with the environment and community of self-improvement that I found there.
I became a nutritionist and fitness and posing coach and have been able to help women and men from across the country, in Canada and oversees. I continued to compete and made it to the top 7 nationally as a bikini competitor.
I expanded my coaching services to include life coaching for those who were wanting guidance / direction to living a more wholehearted life who didn’t necessarily connect with the fitness element of it OR didn’t feel they needed direction there.
I coach women and men who are starting and growing businesses, mothers who want to find themselves, their passion, and ultimately their happiness again, and those who are ready to break through the limiting beliefs holding them back — aka I help them get out of their own way.
I have recently merged those two passions by creating a program where we use health + wellness as the foundation to build on to wake my clients up to their highest, truest selves (optimal physical health is simply a byproduct of balanced energy within). This program includes nutrition + fitness guidance along with meditation practices, education on the chakras, affirmations + self-talk, energy cycles, how trauma is stored in the body, and more.
My business partner Lauren Polidoro – an accomplished functional nutritionist and bodybuilding coach and competitor herself – and I are launching our Podcast “Bloom with Kendra & Lauren” in May.
Our intention is for it to be “A Podcast About Human Flourishing.” We are passionate about female empowerment and optimal + complete health of the body, mind, and the soul and our content will be created to educate and encourage just that.
There are big things coming, still! I am just getting started…
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
What an interesting question. Honestly, my initial reaction was to say yes, but I think it’s because I expected the ride to be a bit wild. That is what life is.
But no one goes on an ATV ride for a smooth experience.
There’s fun to be had when dealing with the unexpected, and really we always are. And the sooner we accept that the more fun + ease we can experience.
“Let it be easy” has been my mantra.
But of course, there have been struggles and things haven’t gone according to plan.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’d classify myself as a coach + mentor, specifically one that empowers + educates women.
I am proud of not only the business I’ve built and the people I’ve helped but the personal life I continue to nurture.
I am a step-mom of four kids who we have primary custody over. I moved here to ATX from Salt Lake City, UT. I didn’t know a soul here besides my husband and his children. Now I have several clients in the area, a handful of new + dear friends, a fitness community, and more.
Life has taught me that new and scary can lead to pure magic.
Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
Either to make plans and be flexible or…
Relieving yourself of the responsibility for other people’s experience in life can allow you to not only be your authentic and most powerful, happy self, but it also allows you to really SEE people. Because as soon as you stop worrying about what people are thinking / feeling (specifically what they’re thinking / feeling about you), you can be present to not only follow intuition but also to follow their cues. You can more easily notice when someone might need a smile, or a helping hand, or even some distance. That is what we call a win/win.
or…
And this is along the same vein – focusing on your own growth and happiness is the least selfish thing you could do.
