Life & Work with Kasandra Maldonado

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kasandra Maldonado.

Hi Kasandra, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I’ve been in this industry about ten years now but it all started when I was a young girl watching My mom’s best friend Jae, She had a beauty shop in my small hometown of Nixon, Texas. I was always wanting to be with her so I would sweep or wash hair around the shop. I genuinely loved just being in the shop.

I tried college and it just wasn’t for me, everyone talks about going and how much fun it’ll be and all the friends you’ll make but honestly Trade schools are just as fun too. Don’t get me wrong, it took me a while to finish because I was having to work full time too and I was just young trying to figure life out, but I can honestly say though it was the best decision I ever made.

Entering a trade offers personal fulfillment, high salary potential, and job stability. I’m so happy I chose this career. In November of 2020, I Renamed That’z K’z Kutz Mobile wedding grooming. I had the pleasure of Getting to Work with a client and get him and his groomsmen wedding ready in the comfort of their Hotel.

We tend to forget how special Wedding days are for men as well they deserve to get treated like a king, So That’s where I come in and help out.

My services include a Hot towel, warm lathered neck shave and a complimentary bottle of alcohol. Along with a fresh cut and style.

Along with my mobile services, I also work full time under That’z K’z Kutz at fadebox barbershop.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
In my opinion, entrepreneurship is never easy. You have to overcome so many adversities. But it’s your motivation to succeed that really pushes me to keep going.

I have a son who’s my motivation seeing his smile drives me to keep going, I wanna be successful for both of us. Growing up in a small town, you don’t have many options to succeed but it’s how you take life and make it yours.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m currently working at fadebox barbershop, so Fades are what I specialize in. My goal is to have people feeling better then they came in, I know it’s pretty cliché but I also enjoy getting to meet people of so many different backgrounds and hearing their life stories. I say what sets me aside from everyone else is that I’m a very genuine person who cares about my client’s needs and wants and will strive to get your hair where you want it to be.

I would say I’m mostly proud of myself for never giving up, everyday in this industry is different. Going through a pandemic as a stylist was hard, I honestly didn’t know what to do but I kept my faith and Stayed strong.

What does success mean to you?
Success is about being happy with an outcome and doing something correctly. It is about feeling accomplished when something is finished. Making money and getting fame is a reward for success. Success is setting a goal, putting others first, and doing what you have to do to achieve the goal and never giving up.
