Today we’d like to introduce you to Emily Jasek.
Hi Emily, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’m a mother of two (Aralynn-8 and Caden -6). I have been happily married to my husband Eric Jasek for seven years now.
I always knew that I wanted to be in the medical field, I just never knew what that entailed for me. When I was in high school at Bowie in South Austin, I began suffering from severe migraines. I had anywhere from 1 to 3 migraines per week. Nothing seemed to be working for treatment. I was allergic to all the medications that they would give me and in many cases, the medications would make me worse. I continued to deal with the migraines into my college years. After discovering chiropractic through my cousin, I was able to get my migraines under control within about six months. (mind you, this varies person-to-person). It was through my personal treatments and discovery of chiropractic that lead me on the journey to learning more about the field in general. After educating myself on what chiropractic was I decided I was going to enter the field so that I could try to help others in the same situation I was in. I’ve always long to help my community and discovering chiropractic and going into the field itself has allowed me to be able to reach the people around me and help bettering their well-being.
I opened my first practice in central Austin back in 2011. When I found out that I was pregnant with my daughter Aralynn, I decided that I would sell my practice. I had a very rough pregnancy that led me to taking time off to be with her. (She was a premie at 31 weeks) During my time away from practicing, my family (my parents Bill and Jeanne Lain, my husband, Eric Jasek and my sister, Melissa Medina) and I decided that we would open a new practice in Kyle Texas. My practice started from scratch and with my family‘s help and our devotion to helping our local community, we have managed to grow a practice that is beyond what we had imagined. We are reaching more and more family and enjoying the stories and changes in patients day to day quality of life. We look forward to continuing our practice and treating the Hays County community and beyond.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Being an entrepreneur in any aspect comes with the expectancies of the ups and downs. Our practice started from scratch. With that meant we had to work through the ebb flows of attempting to grow not only as a business but as a family. We had to figure out a way to get our name out there and to help people trust me with their care. With one chiropractor in our office, we have grown exponentially and we are seeing the fruits of our labor‘s grow. I would say the biggest struggle that our practice has seen since opening was the changes that took place during the coronavirus pandemic. But even through that time, our practice still grew and we were still able to reach lives and help people with other ailments throughout the pandemic. Our clientele changed when family started working from home and ergonomics brought on a different definition.
We’ve been impressed with Benevida Health and Wellness Center, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Our business name is different than what you would expect. We actually made it up. When you break down the meaning of our name, it means “the good life“. We are known in our community as a practice that when you come in you are greeted by name oftentimes you’ll know somebody in the office and you will feel like you are a part of our practice. Nothing makes myself and our staff more excited/happy then when we see patients run into each other and simply catch up on old times or current times in our waiting room. We often laugh amongst each other about the amount of conversations that have gone on in our waiting room and how much joy we see in our patients when they leave our office.
Dr. Lain has training in pediatrics and Prenatal care. The practice itself is a family practice meeting ages from birth to our elderly population. Dr. Lain has a strong passion towards chronic pain patients and loves to see the changes in their lives when they are able to feel better and their quality of life changes. She is currently going through training for functional medicine through functional Medicine University. She has a desire to help people not only through the chiropractic treatment but also through the nutritional changes that can make long-term impacts.
Our office offers several different services. These include chiropractic service massage therapy, as well as nutrition response testing.
Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
Jeanne and Bill Lain are my parents and the brains behind the entire practice. They are The majority owners of the practice.
Melissa Medina is my sister. She is our biller for the practice as well as part-owner of the practice. She often times put out the fires that myself or Jeanne do not have time to put out.
