Today we’d like to introduce you to Tamar Hermes.
Tamar, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I grew up poor in the city of Los Angeles, CA. Not only did I have no idea about how people made money, but I also had no knowledge that I could become anything I wanted in life. I came to realize through some tough lessons that my life had the potential to be as grand as my dreams- if I was willing to work for it. After I paid my way through college, I became a television executive. When I had my children, I started a successful sales company wholesaling children’s products to retail stores. Once I started making multiple six figures at the age of 29, I got this crazy idea that I didn’t want to have to work for anyone if I didn’t want to. I looked at my expenses and saw my rent was my biggest line item. Shortly thereafter, I bought my first property. I continued buying Real Estate over the years, even though people, claiming to be experts, told me it was risky and extremely complicated. Real Estate wasn’t hard for me to understand and wasn’t completely out of my control, like the stock market. I was hooked. Five years ago, I created Wealth Warrior Woman to help others learn how to become financially free through Ral Estate Investing. The company offers a training course, mastermind, and premium 1:1 coaching on investing and finances with individuals and couples. This city of Austin offers a dynamic area for investing and a city of people filled with vitality and big dreams that I love being a part of.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Naturally, it wasn’t a smooth road, and if I said it was, I likely wasn’t challenging myself enough. When I started Wealth Warrior Woman, I had already built a successful business and had been successful in the entertainment industry. I thought if I worked hard, the fruits of my labor would follow. It was so much harder than I imagined building a company from scratch. I spent $10,000.00 on a website I didn’t like. I signed up for tons of expensive classes to teach me how to be a successful businesswoman and coach, but I missed the crucial part. I did not have a clear message or branding. I did not know what I was offering. I just knew I wanted to help others. The result was that it took me a while to get clients, years in fact, and I was very discouraged. I felt like a failure, and I was frustrated the work never seemed to end because I was not clear about what I should be working on. I made it through with hard work and determination. My lesson was to have compassion and patience for myself so that I could enjoy the journey.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Wealth Warrior Woman?
I created Wealth Warrior Woman because I know that women have the right and ability to make as much money as they want. I believe Real Estate Investing is the best way to get there. I offer a mastermind where women learn all about Real Estate Investing and have the support of my mentorship to get them actively investing. Women need to understand the world of finances and take an active role in growing their wealth. I found the same is true with couples. The expansion of my company to support them is valuable for all parties. Relationships work best when there is a dialogue around money, legacy, and making sure both partners are involved in understanding where the money is invested. What makes my company special is that I am very hands-on and I’m working to help others achieve what I have accomplished. I walk my talk and know that integrity is the foundation for setting the stage for growth and change.
Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
I never give up. Jim Rohn says, “You can find a way, or you can find an excuse.” I believe in finding a way.
