Daily Inspiration: Meet Savannah Gallegos

Today we’d like to introduce you to Savannah Gallegos.

Hi Savannah, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I am actually not new to social media, as I’ve always been creative and started with a photography Instagram page, a makeup page, a page for my art, and now my fashion & beauty page. I paint, draw, sing, and am just attracted to anything creative. I think with this medium, I’ve really found a niche I can share and help people with. My goal with all of the above was to bring people together, either through subjective art, or creative makeup, and I’ve always loved how all of those make me FEEL. That’s really the basis of what I want to project always: a FEELING. I do these Mixtapes every Friday that are one of my favorite forms of content to make, since music has always been a passion, and I’ve gotten a really great response to the 5-song playlist that is usually a mix of chill EDM. People know to look for it at the end of every week, and it helps to kick off the weekend on a positive note.

I started my beauty page because I fell out of love with the severity of makeup, and how it was just becoming more about changing one’s features than celebrating them. Now with a focus on skincare and fashion, I want to encourage people but especially women, to love themselves, and have the tools to feel and look like their best self. Not everyone knows how to do their makeup, but everyone can enjoy and do their skincare! It also holds a special place in my heart because as a teen, I had horrible skin and it really affected my self-confidence. So if I can teach someone how to take care of their skin, or what medicine to ask their doctor about to have clearer skin, it really means I am doing something.

As far as the fashion aspect, it’s something I have always loved. I think everyone wants to look and feel put together, and when I am, I’m just a better version of myself! Making fashion content means I can help share what I love, by offering some insight to make fashion less intimidating and more accessible and fun. I also find that a well-executed reel can really help motivate people, from everything from the music to how you present yourself; it can really help inspire. There are days that I don’t want to do all the things I have to do, but a good reel can really turn that around for me and get me up and going! It’s almost like the short-form version of a movie, how a movie can provide inspiration and a sort of escapism.

Oftentimes, I get overwhelmed by the state of the world. I wish that I could save everyone and every animal. I wish we could all be happy. But at the end of the day, all I can really do is my small part and hope that it makes a difference to someone, and in turn, sets of a chain reaction, so that maybe in helping that person feel better about themselves, they can be kinder and do better. My way of putting good vibrations out into the world in my own way.

Probably one of the biggest things I hope to convey is to be boldly YOU, whatever that means. To be happy, and shine your light, and not be scared of who you want to be or who you are. Whether that means literally wearing bold colors, or just speaking your mind, sharing your passion, JUST DO IT. I remember being so nervous about becoming a Content Creator on Instagram just because I was nervous what people what think. At the end of the day, it’s just a page with a bunch of photos and videos, but it’s helped me love myself and not care about people’s opinions.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I always thought creating content would mean a lot of negative, outside narrative. Surprisingly, it has not been at all! I held back for so long on creating things via social media because of that, and I wish I hadn’t because it’s been nothing but love from all the amazing people I’ve met.

The main struggle I would say right now is doing it all myself. I have a full-time job and life outside of that, and content takes up a lot of time. I think I’ve been able to do it so far just me because I’m highly organized, and I had to learn to be moreso.

Another issue has been letting go of my own insecurities. I love to do Skincare of the Week because it’s a time when I can share my current favorite routine and be bare and real with my followers. I want them to see pictures and the me that is not always curated and made up. I struggled a lot with my self-esteem being younger and so I hope girls can see me and feel normal and beautiful, not leave my page feeling like it’s another unattainable standard of beauty. In that same realm though, I do still have very real insecurities about myself that make it hard to live myself in camera all the time. In this way though, I’m thankful that social media is helping me face my insecurities and to see that their not all that bad.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I work in Social Media as well, engaging with followers of the company’s brand and helping to build the brand. I’m most proud of being able to help the Spanish clientele, who are often under-served in retail spaces. My goal is not just to be there to help answer any questions they might have, but make them feel welcome and like part of the brand’s community.

How do you think about luck?
I don’t believe much in good or bad luck; I believe you get what you work for. Unfortunately, sometimes the people you know and the connections you have can make that easier for some; but I also very much believe that everything, even jobs, happens for a reason. I guess you could say I have a very strong sense of trust in my belief system, and in the universe.
