Today we’d like to introduce you to Jordan Smith.
Hi Jordan, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
My story isn’t much different than anyone else’s I wouldn’t think. I grew up in Elgin, TX played sports my whole life. Went to college on a football scholarship, graduated, came home and started working. Through God’s graces, I am where I am today. I use my BS in Business Administration to help run a couple of small businesses, Smith Handy Services & Regal Vending. My family and I are affiliated with ICCS academy and S.E.E. non-profit (Serve Educate Elevate) our nonprofit as well as a Liquor brand, Mur Mur Rum. I rap mostly but I act and model upon request. I’ve been rhyming words since a kid though. Pops kept us in poetry events and even started one for our church back in the day. He always held “Smith MOB freestyle cyphers” in the back of his grey Maxima on the way to games/practices and anywhere else we went. I’d say I wouldn’t be here without the people around me. They keep me grounded while reminding me that I can be more than what I am. I’m forever grateful for my family, AKA The MOB.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Nothing easy, man. We all struggle in some way or another. We just have to choose our battles wisely. My struggles were largely self-inflicted. My mouth and stubbornness used to get me into trouble back in grade school. College was just a different experience for a young man like myself. I had only really been exposed to the small world that was Elgin, Tx. So when I was in school on my own, I just had to learn that not everything is what it appears to be. This life and everything you know is a business and if you don’t use it correctly, it will use you. God always has a plan. I’m blessed that He gave me more than one talent. He reveals something new to me daily.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’m a businessman and a creative! I can do a lot of things. I write, rap, act, model, I try to sing… it’s still in the works. I just like to make dope s**t! Currently, I’m not trying to specialize in anything, but I’m having the most inspiration right now in my music. I want to act more! I was in my first music video with a good friend of mine, the very talented Tyesha Renee, last year. It really opened me up to say, “I would like to do this more often”. I don’t know what people know me for honestly. People seem to recognize me from socials and whatnot so maybe some of the photo shoots I’ve done previously. But what sets me apart is that I’m me. As authentic as I can be.
What are your plans for the future?
Creatively, I plan on dropping more music, and more photo/video shoots. Collaborating with other creatives. Professionally, I just plan on scaling our businesses. Educating more people, expanding the brand’s reach to new markets, meeting new clients, and working on new projects. The future is full of opportunities.
