Life & Work with Katy Moore

Today we’d like to introduce you to Katy Moore.

Hi Katy, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Growing up outside Los Angeles, I was always enamored with the beauty/fashion industry. I graduated high school with full intentions to attend FIDM to pursue fashion when I decided to fully take a chance and leap into the world of hair at the Vidal Sassoon academy in Santa Monica California.

After graduating, my first assisting job was working for celebrity stylist Ken Paves at his Beverly Hills salon. There I learned from the best of the best and absorbed every new technique I could get my hands on. To this day, I feel so lucky to have attended more than 20 classed from celebrity stylists to Instagram’s most followed stylists.

Today I get to treat every client that sits in my chair like a celebrity, I love my job so much and can’t wait to see where it takes me next!

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
Oh Man! yes there’s been bumps in the road! Working with the public comes with so many positives and negatives, sometimes there’s difficult clients to work with or bosses that are tough, but that teaches you how to have boundaries, there’s a learning moment in every difficult situation.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I do a little bit of everything but I’m definitely a colorist first and foremost. But my other passion is NBR hand-tied extensions, the two go hand in hand to deliver the most beautiful transformations.

I’ve made a little bit of a name for myself as Austin’s blonde Guru and I’m pretty proud of that since blonding was my first love.

What sets me apart is my ability to deliver the best results and be down to earth at the same time. Our industry can be intimidating but I genuinely cherish each of my clients and want them to always feel comfortable with me and more importantly HAVE FUN!

Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
Dedication to my craft through and through. Failing just wasn’t an option for me since I’m so passionate about what I do.
