Conversations with Habiba Tariq

Today we’d like to introduce you to Habiba Tariq.

Hi Habiba, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I have been photographing professionally since November 2021. I have always had a passion for photography, if it’s Infront of a camera or behind a camera, because I love capturing memories. The very first professional camera I got was a Nikon in 2018. I would practice with it occasionally. In 2021, when my 9-5 job was a little slow, I wanted to spend my spare time on something I am passionate about, and photography always brings me joy. My very first photoshoot in 2021 was a Mommy and Me shoot. One of my friends volunteered to support me in this journey, and after I delivered her gallery, another friend put out the word on Facebook because she loved my work and saw potential, and that’s how bibafotography journey started. I am thankful for such a supportive Austin Community, family, and friends who always cheer for me.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has not been a smooth journey for me due to managing a full-time job and following my passion. Sometimes I would have a photoshoot on the weekend, but I am exhausted from the week. However, when I start taking pictures of my clients, I forget how tired I am when I see their happy faces and know that I am making an impact by capturing the most memorable moment of my client’s life. In Rare Cases, I get unhappy clients, but their feedback significantly helps me improve. Therefore, I always encourage my clients to provide me with their feedback.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I specialize in portrait photography. In addition, I offer couple, family, engagement, maternity, and small intimate event photography services. I always learn something new in all my sessions, but one of my favorite sessions was at Mount Bonnell. It was challenging because my photoshoot was at sunset time, and it got crowded during the sunset. I had to ensure my clients stayed safe and didn’t get injured due to the risk of climbing up the rough path. What sets me apart from other photographers is that I always put myself in my client’s shoes and think about what and how I would like my session to be. I am my own worst critic, which makes me want to keep improving. I ask my clients about their vision and inspirational pictures. I let them be themselves during our session so I could capture their most authentic selves.

We love surprises, fun facts and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
Something that nobody knows is that I have so many hobbies and dreams. It gets too much sometimes because I want to do everything, but I am learning the hard way not to sail all the boats at once because it takes away the quality of your work and drains your energy. I am learning to appreciate life more and focusing on one thing at a time.
