Today we’d like to introduce you to Sammie Collier.
Sammie, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I have been in the beauty industry for six years, working in high-end salons in both Texas and California. I have rebuilt 3 times, and am where I am today because of hard work and dedication to my craft. Creating, while making someone feel beautiful has always been my passion and I am fortunate to be in a such a lively place as Austin, TX. Education and inspiration have always driven me to be knowledgeable, for learning is absolutely necessary for growth.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The hard road is never the smooth or easy route, but it’s the one most desired in the end. Rebuilding and relocating has had its struggles, definitely. From working long hours to missing time with my family, it’s passion and a career mixed in one. Finding the balance is crucial, but once you have, you won’t work a day in your life.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am a color specialist specializing in lived-in, low-maintenance hair with a POP! It’s so important to have nice hair for as long as possible. Time is money, and I want those in my chair to feel they are getting the most bang for their buck. I am known for blendy roots, face-framing highlights that POP, and flirty layers to emphasize your gorgeous new color. I am most proud of the trials and tribulations that I went through, making me who I am today. To me, it’s about the journey, not the destination. I am now a 3X BehindTheChair nominee, recognized for Balayage, Brunettes and Educational content.
If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
Growing up, I always knew I wanted to be in the beauty industry. Makeup and hair is my jaaam, and helping my friends with theirs was something I really enjoyed.
