Conversations with Walt Kresa

Today we’d like to introduce you to Walt Kresa.

Hi Walt, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I am an upstate New York native and music industry convert with a deep desire to connect with other human beings. Sure, I’ve got a day job in SaaS, but what drives me is the ability to be creative and hopefully help others along the way. Take all that, mix in a pandemic, and you get VVARM CITY hats: my solution to the aforementioned creative thirst + societal contribution equation. I started it while sitting on zoom calls and having a limited number of ways to show my style (read: no pants!). I designed the hat I wanted to wear and got so many comments that I decided to share them. Since its inception in 2020, VVARM CITY has donated to a couple of charities close to my heart, and I am looking for new charities/partnerships to make an even bigger impact–so don’t hesitate to reach out.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The biggest obstacle for me has been prioritization, honestly. With a day job and your regular old, run-of-the-mill adult responsibilities (yawn), it can be especially challenging to make the time to do the things that feed my soul. Designing these hats is one of those things that I know fills me up but is also the first thing to drop. So for me, it’s about building the things that truly matter into my routines–i.e., planning for my future self.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar, what can you tell them about what you do?
At VVARM CITY, we’re inspired by the outdoors, by love, by the community, and above all–simplicity. Our hats are made for the human world–whether on a fishing trip or at the club. We thrive on clean lines, sharp looks, and a great story. Will you be a part of ours?

What’s next?
We have a ton of new designs planned for the coming months. We’re also exploring placements in some local stores and a variety of new donation projects–because here in TX, there’s no shortage of things to support/stand up for. Stay tuned!
