Community Highlights: Meet Yasmeen Hassan of HCue

Today we’d like to introduce you to Yasmeen Hassan.

Hi Yasmeen, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I started my career as a producer working in Phoenix, Arizona. Eventually, I started reporting and anchoring in cities all over the country, from Las Vegas, Nevada, to Sacramento, California, to Chicago, Illinois. As much as I love news and sharing people’s stories, the industry is not an easy one. Working on the morning show means going to sleep at 6pm and waking up at 2am. The pandemic really put things into perspective for me and I realized I wanted more of a work-life balance. I decided to take the skills I’ve learned as a journalist over the last 15 years and apply that to the business world. My former co-anchor in Las Vegas, Todd Quinones, and I started talking about just that. How we can help people craft their story and convey a lot of information in a concise, authentic and relatable way. That’s how we formed HCue. We coach professionals to be more effective communicators in highly visible and crucial moments.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It sounds cliché but the highs are high and lows are low. Both can be overwhelming. Knowing you have to ride it out and stay positive is easier said than done some days.

As you know, we’re big fans of HCue. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
We help professionals create, refine and deliver their messaging. You know your product or service better than anyone, but it can challenging to efficiently and effectively convey your story. Our mission is to help professionals and organizations create a greater impact in sales, marketing, public relations, speeches, pitches, presentations, as well as traditional and non-traditional media. What sets us apart from other people in this space is our journalism background. Together, we have more than 40 years of experience working in television news, covering events like Presidential campaigns, the Miracle on the Hudson, and the Super Bowl. Our expertise is storytelling. We spent decades learning how to convey complicated information in a concise, relatable, and authentic way. Now, we want to share those skills and help professionals deliver their message in the most impactful way possible.

How do you think about happiness?
I love having a career I’m passionate about and running my own company but what makes me happy is being able to have a work-life balance. After spending more than a decade in broadcast and sacrificing sleep, missing countless birthdays, holidays, and dinners with my family and friends, I understand how valuable that is. Being able to have a career and eat dinner with my family at 6 p.m. is a luxury I don’t take for granted and makes me happy every day.
