Today we’d like to introduce you to Lisa Little.
Lisa, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Coming from a place of service and support has always been my goal. From the time I was a young girl and through my college years, my passion has always been to meet new people, really get to know them, and do what I could to help them reach their goals. This passion led me into a profession that few people admire…sales. I spent most of my young adult life working in the high-tech industry in sales and marketing until my 2nd child was about 3 years old. I had decided I wanted to spend more time at home and find my true passion, and so I just did it. Over the next 5 years, I took design courses, and learned to run a small home-based business, learned how to design stunning closets, and had a blast with my 2 kiddos. It happened by mistake that my girlfriend asked if I could come to help her stage a home she was listing, and I loved it. I was hooked. Over the next few years, I grew my own staging business into a profitable home business until the day we decided to move to leave my home State of California for a new life in Texas. When we arrived in Austin, I knew 2 people, and I knew I had to start over. Real Estate was just the obvious choice. So I got to work and earned my RE license in 3 months, and then began doing what I do best, meeting people.
My 8-year-old daughter had been invited to a birthday party and was concerned that I did not have any new friends in our small town, so she invited me to come along. That is where I met my first real friend in Dripping Springs, and she has been my power buddy ever since. We were both new to the area, had small businesses, and needed to get out and make it happen. We joined our local Chamber of Commerce, attended every networking event we could, co-chaired the membership committee, and then created and taught a Chamber 101 class on all things chamber and networking. All the while, I was holding open houses almost every weekend, driving my kids to all their sporting events, and supporting my husband’s new career.
I have been in the RE business now as a licensed Realtor for almost 9 years, and I LOVE IT. It is so fulfilling to meet new people and help them with one of the largest investments they will make. Being a Realtor is more than just liking people and loving to view homes. It’s about listening to people’s dreams and experiences and their fears and their pains and doing what I can to help them reach their next goal, whether that is moving to a new city for a job, downsizing after the kiddos are gone or upsizing when baby number 3 is on the way.
Today I have a team that helps me provide the best service and support to my clients. Together we are The Lisa Little Team, and we are part of Compass Real Estate. Our clients become our friends and extended family, and who doesn’t love to spend time with friends and family every day? I am truly blessed.
We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
One of my favorite sayings is “don’t compare your insides to other people’s outsides”. We never know the struggles or challenges that other people go through. I have worked very hard to get to where I am and I am certain that many people that see me now would never truly understand that. Spending weekends away from my family, putting out signs in the 100+ degree weather, driving all over a city and state that I just moved to and getting very lost has all not been easy. However, the journey makes us who we are and I would not trade it for anything.

Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
The Real Estate Market is always shifting and changing and is a metric used to define the strength of our national and local economies. Hyper-local attention to our Austin market shows us that we have recently become one of the 5 Tech Hubs in the US Economy ~ along with SF, Silicon Valley, Boston, and New York. We have seen tremendous growth over the last 5 years as more of the Tech Giants are setting their sights on Austin. But what Austin also has is a very diverse economy with strong Medical, Education, and Oil industries. In fact, the SW Austin City of Dripping Springs is known as the Wedding Capital of Texas and has grown leaps and bounds with Venues, Wineries, Distilleries, Breweries, Hospitality and more – all to support this business.
No one really knows where the housing market will be in 5 -10 years, but we can all agree that real estate is one of the strongest long-term investments you can make. Just listen to the lyrics of the Jordan Davis song Buy Dirt, and you will understand.
