Exploring Life & Business with Ramon Montiel of Park and Bar

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ramon Montiel.

Hi Ramon, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I co-founded Park and Bark with my lovely wife, Selene, 7 years ago to live out our passion for taking care of pets. We met 12 years ago while we were both working in the animal care industry.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
Everyone experiences ups and downs as an entrepreneur. We’ve had a few setbacks throughout the years. Our equipment has been stolen a couple of times and we also had some problems during the winter storm a couple of years ago.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
We’re a family-owned and operated business. We are patient and attentive, which allows us to read pets’ body language and earn their trust. We are always striving to make the grooming experience as stress-free as possible, and take great pride in our work, focusing more on quality over quantity. We are Professional Pet Groomers, are CPR certified, and keep up-to-date on the latest grooming trends, equipment, and products in order to keep pets happy, healthy and looking their best!

Our service eliminates separation anxiety & physical stress. Every pet will be in a cage-free, relaxing atmosphere and we’ll treat your pet with love. Our service is not only a convenient and time-saving experience but also a way of life.

The dogs and their owners love us. They give us genuine praise when they see the results of our finished work on their dogs. They come back to us repeatedly. This makes us feel good about our job. All we can say is that we are very grateful to the dogs and their owners. We deeply appreciate their patronage.

How do you think about happiness?
We spend our days in the company of “Man’s Best Friend”, the dogs! Our job is very rewarding, and we are blessed to be able to have a job we love and have results we are proud of. Every day is different. We are allowed to be creative as Pet Groomers and can work with the dog owners in deciding which style to give each dog and how to solve any issues a dog might have. Grooming a dog is like painting. The dog is your canvas, the paint and the brushes are your clipper and scissors (the tools). Using your skills and vision, you will have a beautiful painting (the dog) looking its best and something you can be proud of.
