Today we’d like to introduce you to Gretchen Lewis.
Hi Gretchen, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
As a child, I loved home design and arranging furniture. I had a Barbie Dream House that I loved! I would play for hours rearranging the furniture and changing the floorplan. As I got older, I moved on to rearranging my bedroom furniture every few months. My parents were even gracious enough to let me move the living room furniture around from time to time. I obviously was meant to work in home design. I began staging homes for my family and friends in 2010. I really enjoyed being creative and helping others sell their homes. Often, the houses would have multiple offers after the first few days on the market. I felt like I had a talent for making homes beautiful and desirable to home buyers. In 2013 I decided to start a staging business but life had other plans for me.
Our oldest son had just started kindergarten when I found out I was expecting our second child. Moving furniture around wasn’t safe for my body while I was pregnant. So I decided to take a break until our second son was born. Then, three weeks before I delivered, we found out our oldest had a brain tumor and needed brain surgery and a year of chemotherapy. My family needed me more than I needed to start my business. So I put it on hold while I helped our oldest with his treatments and our newborn, who needed to bond and grow with his family.
In 2017, my oldest son finished treatment and his tumor was stable. Our baby was growing into a healthy toddler. My family had learned to live with the “new normal” of childhood cancer life. I was ready to focus on building my business.
In 2018, I started Clover Home Designs (CHD), a home staging and design company. I am passionate about home design and marketing. The two fields combine to help buyers see a home’s true potential.
I wanted to be intentional about how quickly I grew my business. Initially, I focused my energy on learning design and creating beautiful spaces. Then, I built up my inventory and today I have curated beautiful furniture and accessory collections for several homes.
2022 has been a big year of growth for Clover Home Designs. We have staged many homes in Austin and the surrounding markets. We now have the systems and people in place to stage homes of all sizes and price ranges in the Austin area. We are looking forward to achieving some big growth goals in 2023.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
There is nothing more grounding than hearing the doctor tell you your child has cancer. Your entire life changes in a single breath. While having a child with cancer is the hardest thing I have ever faced, I still see the beauty in it. It changes your perspective and reminds you there is nothing more important than your child’s life and family. The experience slows down the fast pace of everyday life and challenges how you look at everything. I strive to live my life with intention and I carry that into Clover Home Designs. It’s the hard things that make me want to work hard, be kind, and have a positive impact on other people’s lives.

Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
Clover Home Designs is committed to providing an easy and quality staging experience to all of our clients. We have systemized our processes in order to bring a no hassle experience and provide them with a home staging plan that will bring value to their home selling experience. Selling a home is very stressful so we make it as easy as 1-2-3! First, a client or their Realtor calls CHD to schedule a convenient time to preview the home. Then, we discuss how much staging the home needs in order to attract the most home buyers.
Clover Home Designs will then design a customized staging plan with flexible options. Every home, neighborhood, and client are different and we recognize that. Home staging should not be a cookie cutter experience.
Finally, we schedule a convenient day for our team to put the staging plan into place. We understand that things happen at the last minute so if we need to change the staging date it’s no problem! When staging day arrives, our team will bring all of the furniture and accessories to make a home stylish and desirable to home buyers.
Selling your home takes a team of people, we are honored when our clients choose us to be a part of their home selling process.
