Thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I never imagined that I would be my own boss. For several years I worked a corporate job in Human Resources and that was it for me at the time. In 2017 my family was approached by a good friend of ours with a business opportunity. He owned Low Price Auto Glass North Austin and offered us the opportunity to use the business name and open a location in south Austin. I was undecided, we were all undecided! It was a big risk, it would mean giving up a lot and most importantly our job security. Without risk, there is no reward, so if we didn’t take the leap, we would have never found out if it was a good decision or not. In May of 2018, Low Price Auto Glass of South Austin officially opened its doors. It was just me in the office and my husband and dad working in the garage. Zero phone calls and only 1 job (that was a referral) on our first day. Slowly but surely the calls and jobs started trickling in. We had our bad days when I just thought, will we ever make it? Of course, we had our good days that truly showed me the business’s potential.
Fast forward to today, I am very proud to say Low Price Auto Glass of South Austin has served over 8,000 customers and counting! We have also doubled our staff. We are 100% family owned and operated and take pride in each vehicle we touch. Never in a million years would I have imagined myself in the position I am now. Being a business owner comes with its struggles but it has given me the freedom to be a boss, mother and wife all in one! I am proud to say my business is woman/minority owned in a predominantly male-dominated industry. I love what I do and I love my team.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Being a business owner has not been easy at all. My husband and I left our jobs and took our chances. The financial stress was real. Not knowing if we would be able to pay our shop rent and mortgage each month was difficult. There were numerous times when we didn’t pay ourselves just to make sure we had enough money to cover our business expenses. Opening up our shop put a strain on our health, mental health and relationship.

Low Price Auto Glass of South Austin is an automotive glass replacement/repair shop. We specialize in both foreign and domestic vehicles as well as custom glass.
