Hi Luis, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I always loved food and enjoyed hanging out and watching my dad and older brother grill outside. It was always relaxing smelling the food and finally eating the delicious proteins from the cooker. I started dabbling in it myself, and to this day, I have several sponsors, from grill companies to rubs and sauces. I enjoy filming my youtube videos and posting my cooks on Instagram and TikTok. It has taken over, and every weekend, I’m doing another cook and filming videos while testing out different products from sponsors. I’m constantly on the search for the perfect rub combinations. Nothing makes me feel better than seeing the look of family and friends after they taste my cooking. It is a part of me, and I will always do this. It makes me complete. I have just as good of a time smoking and grilling meats in my backyard as going to the entertainment district.
You wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been smooth?
Of course, there were bbq fails along the way, lol. You can only make great bbq once you make bad bbq, lol. We were always learning different techniques and flavor profiles. Was it good? Was it too salty? A little too overdone? Lol.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a Project administrator for an electric motor company and have held several titles since I started in 2004. I specialize in outscoring stock products to outside vendors to get their products customized based on the customers’ specs. I’m known for tackling the nastiest projects and getting them done to ship to the customer on time. What sets me apart from others is that I’m not afraid to fail. I learn more from mistakes than from reading a book.
Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
My wife has been my biggest supporter. She supports all my cooks and also gives me ideas on some. My kids are also my biggest fans. They enjoy my brisket, lol. Some of my sponsors have stepped in to help me along the way. I am blessed to have such great sponsors. Gabrick BBQ, Bear mountain pellets, PS Seasonings, Hook’s Rubs, and Smiling Swine, to name a few, have all stepped in and made these cooks possible.
