Conversations with Olivia Berit

Today we’d like to introduce you to Olivia Berit.

Hi Olivia, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for sharing your story with us – to start, maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers.
The Texas Hill Country is undoubtedly on the rise, and our small towns are quickly becoming vastly populated cities. With such a rapidly growing community, I wanted a way to stay connected and keep that “everybody knows everybody” feeling; after all, we are all neighbors. I wanted to offer this town something unique that can bring people of all journeys together. Newbies or natives, no matter your age, no one can resist the smell, taste, or nostalgia that cotton candy presents.

If you know me, I live by the phrase “love God, love others,” and boy, am I a people person. There’s nothing I like more than bringing people together, making connections, and building community. FLUFF has allowed me to do just that in such a unique way. We can bring out smiles and good conversation at birthday parties and local small businesses and markets. We’ve been blessed to meet many wonderful people, make new friends, and support others. Every event reminds us how amazing our God, town, and people are. We are so happy to be here!

Would it have been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Is there ever a smooth road on any journey? There’s always a battle behind the scenes. There have been times when I’ve been crying on the floor from the feeling of failure, but there have also been times when I’ve been jumping for joy from what I call success. I’ve always been one to have some side hustle, and the struggles here weren’t too different than anything else I’ve done. They are the same, just a bit elevated and more pressure-filled. I’m a people pleaser and only want to put out my best effort. I am challenged with focusing too much on the little things, which I’ve had to adapt to. I’ve learned it’s okay not to be okay, and it’s okay if it’s not perfect.

There’s a fine line between working hard and overworking. Sometimes, I need a break or a little reset, but it’s hard for me to sit still. When I’m lying down to rest at night, my mind wanders. “Did I do that right?”, “What can I do to grow?”, “How can I reach others?” the list goes on. I’ve learned the balance between giving it all I’ve got and not burning myself out. The struggles are what I’m grateful for because bad days allow you to appreciate the good days even more.

Thanks – so, what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I created FLUFF to bring people together in a fun way. We are a mobile cotton candy cart that literally brings cloud nine to you. You can find us at local markets, events, and parties specializing in live cotton candy spinning. We offer 50+ flavors and even have alcohol-infused options. Our sugar is hand-blended with premium flavors and natural ingredients for superior taste and texture. Our sugar is processed and packed with no preservatives or chemicals, and as always, we have no GMO, dairy, peanut, soy, or gluten in any flavor. The goodness isn’t just in our confections. At FLUFF, we focus on the good of the product and the people. We are so blessed to be able to work with non-profits, organizations, and charities to give back. These people make our world go round, and we couldn’t be prouder to partner with Room Redux, Pink Warrior Advocates, Pups and Pints, and many others in our community.

What are your plans for the future?
My plan with FLUFF has always been to flourish as a business and a person. I want people to know me for who I am and here. I’m here for the good and the bad, I’m here as a friend, and I’m here as a supporter. Building a community of good relationships is one of the keys to a happy heart. I hope to continue to pour love into this town and grow my business simultaneously. As for events, we plan on building another cart soon to accommodate the demand and reach more people because every smile is a sign that we are one step closer to accomplishing our goal.
