Rising Stars: Meet Darcy Doyle of Fort Worth

Today we’d like to introduce you to Darcy Doyle.

Hi Darcy, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for sharing your story with us – to start, maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers.
I come from a family of doctors, engineers, and pilots. There was a spoken and unspoken expectation that I had better put my brain to good use, which had everything to do with the career I would choose. Only after my father passed away did I realize that the only way I can serve the world and this life I am blessed to have is to do what I love and help people through that with grit, passion, and zany creativity. And that was acting. I wanted to be a conduit for people to witness, get lost in, and embrace their humanity. On top of acting, I’ve found this passion in modeling, dance, and writing since 2018.

Alright, let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what challenges have you had to overcome?
I graduated from the University of Texas at Arlington with a theatre arts degree and a minor in dance in the Spring of 2020. Hard to start my career as an actor when many theaters and sets were shut down for the foreseeable future. Accepting that I didn’t know what I was doing, but I was going to try anyway, was the challenge. I had to keep reminding myself that my main goal was to reach and move people. That’s what I’m here for. To give justice to characters whenever they come my way. So I hunkered down and became a sponge, absorbing all there was to learn.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a theatrical film actress based in the southern United States. The most recent feature film I starred in was, Stay;, which premiered in theaters on September 3rd. Next week I will be on set for my next feature film, Lifeforms. I just closed Steel Magnolias as the character “Annelle” at the Granbury Opera House, and won best actress for my role as “Andy” in, Jackalby, at the Press Play International Film Festival. I am currently in the process of making my screenwriting and directorial debut and, now, spending some nights in a recording studio. I am proud of how I’ve kept at it, even though the pandemic or self-doubt could have stopped me in my tracks. I think it’s because I’ve truly found what I’ve been called to do. I always want to learn more, ready to work and pour my heart and soul into each project, but I am even more ready to laugh. When you can find joy in the smallest things, is it working?

Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
I think I’ll keep climbing. I plan on moving to LA or wherever the acting world takes me. The industry is shifting, with social media being intertwined with how we absorb all media and creative endeavors. This generation’s current audience has become fantastic film critics. With so many options available, people can identify what it is about films, series, and shows they love and connect with, which is fantastic for those in the industry. Options are overflowing! People are ready to explore film in its artwork like never before, and we are prepared to feed that.
