Today we’d like to introduce you to Tryna Jackson.
Hi Tryna, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I am an LPC – Associate who recently opened a private practice in October of 2022! I have always had a passion for helping others, and I am so grateful to be able to hold space to help those in difficult moments in their lives. My journey started at Texas State University, where I obtained my bachelor’s degree in psychology. I then pursued my master’s degree in counseling at Capella University. It was not easy balancing working and my studies, but having a private practice has been a long-time dream of mine.
Can you talk to us about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
There were many struggles along the way, such as balancing working full-time as a social worker and keeping up with my studies. It took work! The most challenging time was during the pandemic of 2019/2020. Burnout was very heavy, and I wasn’t sure if I could keep up with both demands. I pulled through! And I am so thankful to be able to do what I love.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next, you can tell us more about your business.
My Approach to therapy is person-centered. The client is the expert in their life, and my role is to collaborate and support them as they listen to their inner voice. I work with all types of folks who may need assistance with boundaries, anxiety, personal relationships, adjustment problems, burnout, life transitions, and relationship issues. I offer individual therapy sessions both in person and virtually. One of the things that I am most proud of about New Vibes Therapy is not only bringing my vision to life after graduating, but I love being able to assist folks in finding their inner peace and joy. It is a very humbling experience and something I never take for granted!
What were you like growing up?
I grew up in Fort Worth, Texas! Growing up, I felt out of place in school and battled heavily with anxiety and depression. It was not until college that I had my first counseling session and could dive into my mental health. During this process, I found passion and realized that being a therapist was something I wanted to do and make a difference in the world.
