Thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, how did you get started?
Hi there! My name is Marika Simón, and I am a host, influencer, researcher, and public relations specialist originally from Mexico City. I graduated from the Communications Program at the Universidad Iberoamericana. I started my career with my first radio show on Ibero 90.9 FM, which helped me become one of the pioneers in internet radio with a high reach in Mexico and Latin America.
Throughout my career, I have worked with amazing talents such as Elton John, Sarah Brightman, Plácido Domingo, Ricky Martin, Sam Smith, Patricia Fields, Eugene Kohn, and Matute, among others. I also had the opportunity to join the production of the Nascar Toyota Series in 2013 as a sports TV host for Fox Sports Latin America.
My passions are music, photography, and travel, which I love sharing through social media. With more than 95k followers, I am grateful to be able to inspire and empower my followers to live, eat, dance, and travel like pros! I have had the pleasure of partnering with leading brands in the industry, creating authentic and impactful campaigns that resonate with my audience.
I am a proud Toronto local and active advocate for the LGBTQ+ community. I am proud of my Mexican roots and culture, which led me to fulfill my lifelong dream of moving to Canada. In 2022, I filmed my first TV show, “Repossessed,” an eight-episode thriller and the first season of a docuseries filmed in various USA and Canadian locations. The show investigates haunted objects and helps the owners find a solution for their continuous experience. The show premiered on February 28, 2023, on Hulu and has been enjoyed by over 50M viewers in the USA. I am excited for the show to premiere in Canada later this year on Canada’s History Channel.
Can you talk to us about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned? Looking back, has it been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It’s never a smooth road; there’ve been many bumps along the way, but trust me, that makes it even more magical. If you had told me ten years ago, I would be where I am today. I would have never believed it. It takes time, patience, courage, and many deceptions, but only some things are terrible. There’s so much more positive, fun, happy, and exciting along the way.
