Today we’d like to introduce you to Allison Ortega.
Hi Allison; I’m so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work life, how can you bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My name is Allison Elizabeth Ortega. I was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, was raised in Laredo, Texas, and in January 2023, moved to Round Rock with my now fiancé. We got engaged this past June 16, 2023. We have a female dog named Elise. She’s seven years old, and we adore her; she’s our baby. We have been dating for the past four years, going on five years this September. Fitness has been a huge part of my life for the past seven years. I lost over 100 pounds in about a year, being dedicated to the gym and nutrition. I would love to one day help people with their fitness journey and be part of a great community. I have worked in the hospital setting as a PCT for seven years in September, and even though it might be hard some days, I have loved every moment. I would love to spread my love and positivity of fitness to people seeking to start a journey.
Can you talk to us about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned? Looking back, has it been easy or smooth in retrospect?
My fitness has been a struggle because sometimes I’m very motivated, and sometimes I lie back. I was working in the hospital setting when the pandemic was going on, which was one of the challenges I faced. In life, that was hard, but I pushed through it and gave the best care I could to the ones who were admitted.
I appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m a PCT at one of our local hospitals and am truly happy with the fantastic people I work with. Everyone was so helpful and supportive. I love what I do. I love helping out when they need that extra care. Sometimes, we have hectic days, but I still love what I do and am so blessed to take care of everyone I have cared for.
Do you have recommendations for books, apps, blogs, etc.?
My favorite app would have to be Spotify because I’m a Taylor Swift fan, so my Spotify is full of her albums. My fitness pal keeps me up to date when I get to do my diet. Specifically, with my wedding coming up, I have to and want to track my intake. I also love the BPN app. I have been training for a half marathon, so I have been using that app, and so far, I love it. Pinterest because, of course, my wedding and YouTube.
