Meet Fabian Hernandez of Georgetown

Today we’d like to introduce you to Fabian Hernandez. They and their team shared their story with us below:

Fabian Hernandez

His fascination has been horses since a very young age. He loved the art of training any horse to run. He also self-taught the thrilling skill of being a jockey of his racehorses. His excellent work ethic allowed him to form a horse team called “Cuadra Piedreros.” Now, his horses race nationwide and are widely known for their unique nicknames and recognized jockey Manuel Gutierrez, also known as “Caritas.” All of this has been fulfilled through tireless dedication in making a stone quarry prosper and get him to where he is now. Every two seconds, he comes up with ideas, ideas that are crazy but very intelligent.

His known, humble, charismatic self and spontaneous ideas have led to remarkable accomplishments. He always says, “Vamos a conquistar el mundo” or “Let’s conquer the world” is just one of his many cartoon-inspired quotes. He loves cartoons; he even made a small film featuring our famous jockey, his cousins, and himself. Now, how did this lead to becoming a brand? This young man, coming from stone and horses, would have a very Western style. Instead, he has a fashion sense of his own. He is very edgy but modern, which led him to grow his passion for fashion. He wants to embrace his bold view on sugar skulls and the iconic wear combination of an edgy yet elegant look. The skeletal remnants remind us daily of life’s journey. The skulls are striking fashion statements and have become an emblem of fearless individuality. Throughout our clothing in this brand, he explains how there is beauty to be found even in death. As well as embracing his inner child, he will always refer back to his favorite cartoons. A hint of caricature is embedded in many of the brand’s designs. We are working very hard so our boots and clothing speak our brand’s name. He is a lover of hats. He will always have a different hat on because what is an outfit without a nice cap on? He has so many, especially many with cartoon characters.

We are being creative in creating our unique line of hats for Piedreros. As we have mentioned, the names he chooses for his horses are very significant to his bold way and, at the same time, charismatic, like naming his horses after a cartoon character, “El Pajaro Loco.” Which recently won in the 2023 Retama Park Derby. Since the horses have very peculiar names, they will become iconic to our shirts and hats. Our main focus is the boots; we hand-pick the skins for our boots and work with a great team to get to the designs we wish to get.

Of course, we want to go beyond boots, hoping one day we can work with sneakers using beautiful exotic skins for shoes, boots, and many other accessories. Also, did I mention his love for socks? Yes, socks. He says he always has holes in his socks since he is on his feet all day and in boots. Who knows what it is, but he likes to have fun socks on, so we are also implementing our unique style on socks. Our logo is three triangles representing unity, protection, and family integration, persevering the ethnicity and values instilled in one. All the horses have this symbol and are recognized immediately as Cuadra Piedreros when the triangles are seen since the triangles have represented Cuadra Piedreros for over 10 years. We have come quite a long way, looking for the richest skins and artesian boot makers and hoping to bring in a shoe collection, clothing, and many other accessories. We have a good team and are slowly trying to get the best quality material for all our products. We love to do custom boot orders on boots apart from the lines we are working on. Our brand will reach and be worn by many people.

Can you talk to us about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned? Looking back, has it been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has not been a smooth road, but it continues the ride; we are dedicated to becoming a brand and showing our unique style to the world. A huge struggle is going even outside of the States looking for the best skins for our boots, and not only that, but it’s also finding many different artesian boot makers. We like our boots to be handcrafted, and we are looking for different styles and designs, so many have had to make a new mold. We want to get full lines out, and it is time-consuming to get samples and approve the making or make modifications. We are still looking for more bootmakers who can do our designs on the uppers we wish to do. There are so many different ways to display a design as we wish them to be hand-stitched, inlay, tooling, laser and artistic designs done fully by hand. It is very time-consuming to have to wait and see finalizations. Another challenge is we want to work with Peru for our clothing lines. We are contacting many textile companies and talking to designers about what we would like to fulfill rather than waiting to get samples for approval on different fabrics we want to use. It’s a trial and error, but we are happy to work with so many different people to create our brand. Keep moving forward; every day is a new opportunity to keep going.

Thanks – so, what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I have diverse responsibilities in my work ethic, from managing stone quarries, operating heavy equipment, coordinating stone orders, generating sales, and bringing new builders and masons to my company. I have strong adaptability from transitioning seamlessly between roles such as an office worker, mechanic, foreman, and problem solver. I like to stay productive and innovative in any business I engage with. My motive comes from my family and parents, and I have yet to fulfill my personal goals. What truly makes me stand out is my multitasking ability and constant movement. It’s about dedication and skill set. Most of all, I stay true to myself the painful long work hours and efforts that I put in everything i do will have a good outcome, there are still some goals to achieve and work for to make them come true. Now, I have another one: to create an inspiring brand. That has taken a lot of effort elsewhere, and I would like to bring it to speak it through a fashion brand.

What makes you happy?
Thanks to God for being alive, and having my wife, kids, and parents are a blessing to my life, and I must always give thanks to God every day. To wake up and have another day to make this dream work.
