Today we’d like to introduce you to Cameron Earle.
Hi Cameron, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started playing drums at 12 and played in local bands throughout my early childhood. When I turned 21, I decided to take my musicianship to the next level and attended the prestigious Musician’s Institute in Los Angeles. After graduating from Musician’s Institute with a degree in percussion and audio engineering, I landed an internship at the legendary Hollywood studio, Grandmaster Recorders Ltd. While at Grandmaster, I got to assist in sessions with some of the most established music producers and audio engineers in the music business. After leaving Grandmaster in 2014, I took all my knowledge in production and the business and landed a gig playing drums for a national tour in 2016. After returning from the tour, my passion for producing electronic music was reignited. A passion that developed during my first year of college in 2010, with no access to playing drums. I then attended the well-known music production school Icon Collective in 2018. While at Icon, I honed my music production abilities and started developing a love for performing electronic music live. Since graduating from Icon in 2019, I have been producing my records, producing and songwriting for other artists, and performing local DJ sets. I recently released my third EP, ‘Find The Silence,’ on August 25th. I plan on playing many more shows and releasing more music for the rest of 2023.
We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has been a challenging road. Pursuing music as a profession is not for the faint of heart. One of the biggest struggles in pursuing art is having balance regarding mental health. As a creative, when you are passionate about your craft, there is a hunger for success. When you don’t see that success, whether monetarily or through feedback from your friends, it is easy to be pessimistic. A harsh reality you must face is that this business has no guarantees. I constantly remind myself of why I do music, and it’s because I love it. An excellent way to think about it is how music made me feel when I first started making it. It felt like magic. I stay close to that feeling as much as I can. Another struggle has been maintaining balance when it comes to work and relationships. It’s been tough to manage, but it all comes down to time management. Easier said than done.
Let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I produce and write all types of music, with electronic music being my specialty. I also perform DJ sets and live electronic sets using Ableton Live. I also love to write with other musicians, regardless of genre. I am most known for my solo act, aka ‘Enloh.’ One thing that sets me apart from others is that I’m a multi-instrumentalist. My first instrument was the drum set, which I still play almost daily. I’m passionate about percussion, synthesizers, piano, singing, and DJing. My most recent addition, in terms of instruments, has been the Prophet 6 synthesizer, which has completely changed the music landscape for me.
What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
The most important lesson I’ve learned is to love yourself. Like truly love yourself. Love yourself for who you are, what you are passionate about, and even your imperfections. None of us are perfect, and that’s okay. It’s been a big lesson for me because I hold myself to an extremely high standard, and holding yourself to standards that high isn’t the easiest to deal with.
