In 2005, Joshua (my grandfather) started a small chimney-sweeping business to help support our growing family. Joshua started the business part-time to provide extra income for our family. After 3 years of hard work and dedication to his customers, he was able to leave his day job and pursue the business full-time. Joshua built Chimney Star from the ground up by providing dependable and honest service you can trust. I run the family business today, providing chimney repair and sweep services while caring for my grandfather’s legacy.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Unfortunately, the chimney sweep business does not require any licensing; we had a lot of homeowners in the Austin and San Antonio area. Who had a bad experience being taken advantage of by unprofessional scam companies, which left homeowners’ chimneys in a critically dangerous condition? Earning homeowners’ trust took work in the beginning.
