Hi Darsh, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Born and raised in Mumbai, India, my early years were imbued with the vibrancy and rich culture of my homeland. But at 13, my family and I embarked on a new adventure, moving to Omaha, Nebraska. The transition was challenging, and those initial years tested our resilience and resourcefulness. To support myself and save for trips back home, I managed and operated four body jewelry stores over weekends. The intense workload during holidays, sometimes clocking 24-hour shifts, taught me the value of hard work and the nuances of sales. After completing my education, I served in a government role, reviewing loans for 12 years. While the job offered stability, my heart wasn’t truly in it. Every weekend, my real passion became evident as I eagerly visited open houses, an activity that made my eyes light up. Recognizing this passion, my family encouraged me to pivot my career toward real estate. Today, real estate isn’t just a job for me – it’s a way of life. I draw upon my diverse experiences to excel in this field. During my time in jewelry sales, I taught the intricacies of customer relations. Managing multiple stores sharpened my organizational and management skills. My stint with the government gave me the analytical insight to dissect deals and minimize risks for my clients. Life has its poetic way of coming full circle. From the bustling streets of Mumbai to the vast landscapes of Nebraska, my journey has been filled with challenges, learning, and, most importantly, the pursuit of passion. I consider myself fortunate to have turned my passion for real estate into a rewarding career.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
No, the journey hasn’t been smooth. Moving from Mumbai to Omaha was a significant cultural and emotional shift. Being a teenager, adjusting to an entirely new environment, schooling system, and lifestyle was challenging. The initial years were especially tough as my family and I grappled with settling into the American way of life. Financial challenges were evident. To support myself and contribute to the family, I had to step into the world of work at a young age. Juggling between studies and managing four body jewelry stores on weekends was strenuous. There were times, especially during the holiday season, when I worked around the clock, with 24-hour shifts. This wasn’t typical for someone my age, and it often meant missing out on usual teenage experiences. My career in the government, reviewing loans for 12 years, posed its own set of challenges. While it offered stability, I constantly grappled with the realization that it wasn’t where my true passion lay. The longing for something more fulfilling often left me feeling unenthused. Switching career paths, especially after spending over a decade in a stable role, was daunting. Pivoting to real estate was a gamble. I had to start from scratch, building connections, understanding the market, and learning the intricacies of the trade.

One of my most cherished childhood memories is the joy of our weekend family gatherings. Every weekend, without fail, my family would come together in a warm embrace of laughter, food, and games. The aroma of delicious dishes wafting through the air, the sound of shuffled cards, and the merriment of shared stories created an ambiance that was nothing short of magical; being inherently social and outgoing, these gatherings were my playground. And being a foodie, the spread of dishes was always a highlight. Those weekends were more than just get-togethers; they celebrated love, connection, and shared moments.
