Hi Brittany, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, let’s briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
I realized fairly early on that I had an eye for decorating. Not many things come naturally to me, but decorating and styling is one of them. When I was younger, you would always catch me changing my space all the time or diving into a creative DIY project. When I had a poem book assignment in school, I turned it into my opportunity to start my journey with the hot glue gun. Ever since, I have found every excuse to use it! I found my passion in event styling when I was 22 years old after a Christmas party I hosted in honor of my late mother, Lisa Rene Tisman, who loved Christmas. I spent months planning the party’s creative details, turning it literally into a winter wonderland. I went as far as putting fake snow on my tile and cabinets, then had over 15 Christmas trees. My passion seemed like a small burning ember that could never go out, so I ignited it. When I graduated with my marketing degree and had my daughter just a year later, I decided I wanted to turn this passion into a career. I’ve done over a dozen full event designs and plan to continue. I think of a quote that George Bernard Shaw used from time to time to stay inspired: “You use a glass mirror to see your face; you use works of art to see your soul.”
We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
A challenge I have faced has been creative blocks. Sometimes, you can’t go as far as you would like with a design because it’s not exactly all yours, which can pose a small hurdle. As a professional, I combine what they want with my full vision.
