Today we’d like to introduce you to Madison Cook.

Madison Cook

Hi Madison, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, let’s briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
Absolutely! My story begins as a young girl. I grew up in Surprise, Arizona, where I lived with my dad. My parents divorced when I was a baby, and we moved to Arizona for my dad’s job. I spent every long school year weekend visiting my mom, who still lived in Austin. I was always surrounded by real estate growing up; my mom was a real estate agent, as were many of her closest friends. Since I primarily lived with my dad, my mom and I bonded through real estate. I was her little sidekick when I was with her. Attending open houses, consultations, appointments with clients, and showing houses. I fell in love with real estate at a young age and always knew that was the direction I wanted to go in. I was taught how to close a deal when I could talk.

After graduating high school, I returned to Texas, attended Texas Tech University, and joined the Alpha Phi Sorority. During winter break, before my last semester of college, I finally decided to get my real estate license and passed both exams on the first try! I graduated from Texas Tech in 2021 with a BA in Public Relations. From there, I moved to San Antonio with my now fiancé, Connor. I joined a team in Boerne, TX, immediately after graduating. I was so excited to begin my career in real estate. Unfortunately, that team did not work out, and I had to pivot. As a type A planner personality, this was not ideal. I eventually joined a team in San Antonio, where I met some of the most amazing people and learned from some of the top agents in the city. In my first year in real estate, I sold 26 homes with a volume of $8.1 million. I am so grateful. After two years in San Antonio, Connor needed to relocate to Austin for his work, so we packed up and relocated to Lakeway, TX. I have since joined The Gene Arant Team and am eager to expand my business to the Austin area and again have the opportunity to learn from some of the best in the business!

It wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Not at all! As mentioned, the first team I joined needed to work out as planned. As a new agent in a new city, I lacked confidence and felt incredibly defeated. From the first team to the second team, it was a long road to building my confidence, experience, and knowledge. Everyone deals with a lack of self-confidence in some way or another. Being a younger agent in a city of seasoned agents, I have to show my value and knowledge every day.

Thanks for sharing that. So, you could tell us more about your work. next
Of course! I am a residential real estate agent. For the past two years, I have been a buyers specialist, with most of my past clients being first-time home buyers. This upcoming year, I will be growing my knowledge and dipping my toe into the other side of the transaction, working with sellers. There is something about helping people find their very first home, even people as young as I am. It’s fulfilling! Aside from first-time home buyers, I have helped families relocate from other states, families in the military, and investors looking to achieve their real estate goals. There are a few things that set me apart from others. Yes, I am young, but because of this, I have so much drive to succeed and a work ethic. My heart for helping others and my ability to connect and have compassion have been the perfect match for a career in real estate.

Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
I am a small risk-taker. I am a rule follower. Taking risks is something I need to expand into; it is one of those things that can build confidence and show grit.
