Today we’d like to introduce you to Sarah White.
Hi Sarah, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, let’s briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
I am the wife of a retired, disabled army veteran, mother of 4, and grandmother, who returned to college in 2014. I started out wanting to be an RN; however, events in my life guided me to a career in mental health. I have a daughter who struggles with mental illness. She was diagnosed at a young age (she is currently an adult); this experience has shown me the lack of resources, the limited amount of therapists, and the stigma that surrounds mental illness. I felt the need to educate myself and others! Ultimately, I was drawn into helping others as a counselor, although it was many years later. In 2010, my son was killed in a hit-and-run at the age of 17, and that day devastated my family and me. When, I could breathe, think, live again, and the smoke cleared, I returned to college. I returned to school in 2018, got my bachelor’s in psychology, then went on to get a master’s in clinical mental health counseling in 2021. I am now an LPC Associate supervised by Alice Green. LPC-S is working on full licensure.
We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Life is full of challenges! I have overcome an abusive father, been in an abusive relationship, and raised 4 children, one of whom was mentally ill and one who passed away suddenly. Through it all, I have lost faith, hope, strength, and, at times, the will to go on. Only now can I see that through the adversities, I have found my strength. We all have an inner strength that is hidden until we need it.
I appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Mindful Healing DBA?

My eclectic style allows me to tailor techniques to the clients ‘ talk about their needs, challenges, and goals. I offer both in-person and virtual sessions. I understand and have cared for a mentally ill child and husband with service-connected disabilities, both physical and psychological. I am dedicated to the well-being of individuals who struggle with mental health issues.
Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
There is more of a need for mental health services. With the campaign for the counseling compact, counselors should be able to provide these services across states via telehealth. Clients will have easier access to mental health services, be able to choose, and have a shorter appointment waiting times. More insurance companies will pay for it.
