Today we’d like to introduce you to Krystalyn Perry.
Hi Krystalyn, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, let’s briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
It is a bittersweet story of how my hobby became a full-blown business. I recommend reading my book on the day my life changed forever. It is on Amazon (A jane of all trades and a Master with hell). The short version is I almost lost my life. With that, it woke me up to where I was in life. Did I have anything to leave behind for my son? Have I done enough for stories to be told to him to help him remember me? Have I done anything to make him interested in following in my footsteps and being better? Questions like that haunted me for a while. My sister Krystal had been telling me for years to make my photography a business since I am so talented. So, that is what I did. I took that first step in trying to leave a legacy behind and capture beautiful photos that would tell and keep my story alive. Years later, I wanted more out of Joyous Rose, so I added on event planning.
After one of my recent jobs as a director, I overplanned and organized different events. I wanted to keep this going after I left. So now Joyous Rose is not only a photography company but an event planning and service. As much as I hoped I would have business pouring in, I do not, which brings us to Kay Vacations. Honestly, I stumbled on becoming a travel agent by accident. I love to travel, and helping others find trips for themselves has always been a challenge. I said why not make travel my full-time business as well. I plan to have a one-stop shop between Joyous Rose and Kay Vacations. Also, it made it well-rounded. For example, I can take someone’s engagement pictures, help plan the wedding, get you those perks, and work with their budget for an amazing honeymoon! A full package!
It wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It has been a challenging road. Working full time on my businesses and then trying to work full time on someone else’s business to have the finances for my businesses and bills is draining. It can become very discouraging. I am also teaching myself as I go, so there are concerns about whether I am doing something right or wrong. I lost clients because I could not stay consistent with bookings and could not be available when they wanted me because I had to work elsewhere. My whole business relies on needing clients, of course. It makes me second-guess everything when I cannot service them.

Joyous Rose Photography: I specialize in maternity, newborn, headshots, and portraits. January 2024, I would like a suite to start bringing in clients for studio sessions. Joyous Rose Event Planning and Kay Vacations, my consultations are free! I specialize in Disney, Cruises, Mexico, and the Caribbean. I just recently became an expert specialist for Hawaii! I am always open to bookings outside of my specializations. What sets me apart from others is that I do everything as a we aspect. It makes it more personal and tells my clients that I am right there with them every step of the way and will try to help their visions come to life. I am most proud of not getting in my way as I used to. I am becoming more confident and believe in every step that I take. I am no longer scared of failure because failure is how you overcome and grow. I want my potential clients and supporters to know they will always get the real Krystalyn. I make friends with everyone that I come across.
