Today we’d like to introduce you to Jordyn Pollack.
Hi Jordyn, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My name is Jordyn. I am 32 years old and live in Austin, TX. I moved to Austin from Ft. Lauderdale as a junior in high school. I have always wanted to be an Entrepreneur and start my own business. I have been into photography and videography since I was a kid and have grown to love that more and more. Getting to showcase my true self online to the world while partnering with some amazing companies has been a dream come true. I own a few different businesses with my Dad and brother, a CBD company called Ziggy’s Naturals that was named after my wife, and we also are about to open on Jan 13th a Superfruit Bowl shop called Playa Bowls! It is a franchise that started in New Jersey, and we are bringing it to Austin!
It wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It hasn’t always been a smooth road; the road to discovering who I am has led me to where I am today. Times were hard; having to navigate a world as a trans man sometimes isn’t easy. So, figuring out what made me truly happy helped me get to where I am today. With business, Ziggy’s Naturals has been a little tougher as the world spends its money elsewhere. Only a few people want to try CBD or are even interested in the benefits if it isn’t the right price. With Playa Bowls, we haven’t opened the doors yet, so as of now, it has been smooth sailing 🙂
Let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I love creating and getting to travel, working for different brands! For the past few years, I have focused on working with luxury hotels and creating amazing photos/videos for them to use in their marketing efforts. What sets me apart from others is my perspective of the world and how I can reach a specific community that some people can’t.
What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
I love the food; I have noticed that Texas generally has great food options! Lots of flavor 🙂 The last thing I like about this city is the politics and having to constantly watch my back as a trans person living in Texas.
