Hi Megan, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, you could tell our readers some of your backstory.
I am an Austin native and graduated from Texas State University with a Bachelor of Science in Communication Disorders. I have always aspired to own a small business and looked into exploring for the right opportunity. After collaborating with my mom and brother about owning a 360 Photo Booth, we decided on this fantastic opportunity. With my mom’s roots in Louisiana, I wanted to tie in Louisiana culture and flair by naming the Geaux 360 Photo Booth business. “Geaux” is pronounced as “Go!” I knew that the name “Geaux” would compliment the 360 Photo Booth as the camera would “geaux” around the subjects quickly. Geaux 360 Photo Booth began in early 2023 and is an entertainment rental camera platform for individuals at various venues, including life, corporate, and community events (i.e., weddings, birthday parties, company parties, bridal showers, etc.). The Geaux 360 Photo Booth is used as rental equipment for additional entertainment for an event of the hosting party’s choice. Our Geaux 360 Photo Booth has three packages for the client to choose from for their event. The package includes a culmination of photo booth props, customized filter/overlay, one-to-two attendants, a large display screen for live viewing, and an iPad for instant video access from users. Our mission is to provide an enjoyable entertainment experience for all who interact with the Geaux 360 Photo Booth safely and reliably. Our past clients have thoroughly enjoyed renting and using the Geaux 360 Photo Booth to enhance their special events.
We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has been a smooth road thus far. I am becoming more versed in promoting the business through various platforms, including social media and the local newspaper. Before accepting bookings, I hosted a soft launch with close family and friends to operate the Photo Booth as I would at future events. After my soft launch, I identified improvement areas and reevaluated my preparation to aim for a more efficient and concise process. By learning about the clients, I adapted and provided the necessary equipment to meet the client’s needs, whether upgrading my internet provider for events in remote areas or purchasing props based on the clients’ events.
Let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am a Certified and Licensed Speech-Language Pathology Assistant (SLP assistant), Special Education Teacher, and Geaux 360 Photo Booth Owner. As an Assistant and Special Education Teacher, I am a major advocate for students in specialized populations who need academic support and effectively communicate their wants and needs. I truly enjoy working and learning from students and their families. Professionally, I am most thankful for working with the next generation by sharing knowledge and experiences as they navigate life after high school. I am proud of the launch and success of the Geaux 360 Photo Booth as we continue to grow and connect with new clients!
Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
My mom and brother are always there throughout life, especially with the business when I do an event! They have been an integral part of the business by helping me carry it out to succeed at all events. I am incredibly grateful to my friends for their continued support in my professional and business endeavors! They are always incredibly encouraging and supportive by sharing the business with their circles to help spread the word about the Geaux 360 Photo Booth.
