Today we’d like to introduce you to Dave Patel.

Dave Patel

Hi Dave, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, let’s briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
Tres Amigos was a restaurant I used to visit as a child. It was one of my favorites. As I grew up, I went into the engineering industry, but it was always unstable; we would be contracted for three years or three months or be unemployed for a while. 8 years ago, as I was passing by Tres Amigos, I saw a “For Sale” sign and opportunity and potential in the restaurant. It was once a restaurant full of people and a Tex-Mex original; taking a chance would be a good idea. I hated seeing a restaurant with so much history and many memories close its doors.

Please talk to us about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned. Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
For the most part, the biggest struggle is finding the right people who also share your business vision and have a passion for what they do. It is essential to offer great customer service and quality food; it is necessary for any culinary experience.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
We are a Tex-Mex restaurant that has been around for generations. We specialize in providing some of the freshest food with a touch of Mexico while keeping it Tex-Mex. I let my staff bring creativity in whenever they cross the entry door. While we have our main menu with our staple items, our staff has weekly specials to create. Sometimes, it is something like their favorite childhood dish ‘Fideo with taquitos,” and other times, it’s a fusion of flavors like our ‘Tres Ultimate Chimichanga.’ We want all our customers to get the opportunity to enjoy these flavors, so we change it up constantly.

What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
Chase’s excellence and success will have no choice but to come along with it. When you take care of your people/employees, they take care of you and ensure everything is good when you are away from overseeing things yourself. Having the qualities of honesty and trust is key in my business. Employees are not just numbers; they mean something to me. It takes me back to why I wanted to leave the big corporate world; I was just a number. You must remember that you are working with people; they are human and make mistakes, but you have to trust them. You build loyalty by treating others as the humans they are, bringing honesty.
