Community Highlights: Meet Aaron Davis of Evolve Health and Performance

Today we’d like to introduce you to Aaron Davis.

Aaron Davis

Hi Aaron, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I grew up immersed in track and field, making it my primary sport from age 10. Throughout my teenage years, my drive for competition fueled my passion for training and curiosity about the methods employed by the world’s top coaches. I was captivated by the classic narrative of discovering a mentor or guru in some remote corner of the world who could unlock my full athletic potential. I delved into libraries, consuming magazines, exercise journals, and training books in my quest for knowledge (before the Google era). This pursuit led me to seek out the best endurance programs in the country, many of which were located in Colorado at the time. Ultimately, it landed me at Adams State University, renowned for its history of national titles. It is located in Alamosa, Colorado, a destination favored by Olympians worldwide for altitude training. It was the perfect environment to pursue my athletic pursuits.

During my time in Colorado, I had the opportunity to visit the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs. There, I witnessed the high-performance model in action for the first time. Athletes had access to various resources, including their respective sports coaches, sports medicine professionals, physicians, strength and conditioning experts, and nutritionists. From then on, the high-performance model became ingrained as the gold standard for athletes. After years of serving as a Head Coach at the collegiate level, I decided to transition to the private sector in Austin, focusing on training and health coaching. During this period, I began laying the foundation for what would eventually become EVOLVE.

EVOLVE Health & Performance now represents the culmination of my experiences and vision. Inspired by the high-performance model I encountered at the Olympic Training Center, I adapted it to athletes and the broader clientele. Today, EVOLVE offers a comprehensive range of services encompassing health, fitness, performance training, nutrition, rehabilitation, and more.

Would it have been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Certainly not. We began the company in my garage, so that was a struggle. The asymmetry of offering a higher-end service without a corresponding environment can be challenging. Fortunately, over the years, we found our people and built the business.

I appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Evolve Health and Performance?
Our company, Evolve, integrates nutrition, health practices, and physical fitness into a cohesive lifestyle for our clientele. We streamline this process by consolidating diagnostic lab testing, orthopedic assessments, nutritional evaluations, physiological testing, and physical preparation all under one roof. Now, we are not reinventing the wheel here. Other facilities offer similar services. However, our model distinguishes itself in three key aspects:

  1. Our backend system compiles comprehensive client profiles, integrating nutrition, performance, and metabolic data into a unified platform. This facilitates seamless communication between our staff and clients, ensuring a continuous flow of information.
  2. All interventions are coordinated to work in harmony. Training, nutrition, and supplementation are tailored to support our client’s objectives, ensuring a holistic and systematic approach.
  3. It’s our exceptional staff that sets us apart.

Not only are they highly skilled professionals, but they also inject a unique energy and atmosphere into our space. Being around them is an experience, creating a welcoming environment that motivates clients to be present and engaged.

If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
Growing up in a small Kansas town, I spent the majority of my days outdoors, consumed by playing sports and engaging in competitions with friends. Many mornings, I would strike out on my own. Thankfully, my parents encouraged my need for exploration, allowing me to travel around the town on my bike. It was during these excursions that I began challenging myself. I would push the limits of distance, venturing as far from home as possible (often turning back out of fear of going too far) and then enduring the return ride home. More often than not, I overestimated my abilities and paid the price, grinding my way back home. There, the idea of pushing human physiology was born, setting me on the path of endurance running and eventually studying exercise physiology.
