Community Highlights: Meet Alysha Light of Flight PR

Today we’d like to introduce you to Alysha Light.

Alysha Light

Hi Alysha, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. Before we get into specifics, please briefly describe how you got to where you are today.

Originally, I wanted to be a film producer and dreamed of shooting music videos. Growing up in Chicago, the closest I could come to that world was to study communications and journalism, which, at the time, really clicked for me. I’ll always remember my first internship at a TV news station. Almost everyone had a dictionary or thesaurus on their desk, and I felt right at home! I get to work with people and words all day? I was living the dream. But the closer I came to the production aspect in the Hollywood sense, the more I realized my love for the world of business. Transitioning into PR was a completely natural one for me. At the end of the day, I’m a storyteller, and I love what I do.

Has it been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?

Definitely not. I’ve had to learn to set boundaries, which initially made me extremely anxious because I thought it just felt “mean.” Now, I joke that I’m a reformed nice girl and recovering people-pleaser who learned the value of not giving a f—. Eleven years into my entrepreneurial journey, I’d for sure say this is the most challenging but also most rewarding role ever.

Let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?

Flight PR is an independent consultancy representing companies across various industries, including health and wellness, tech, marketing, entertainment, legal cannabis, and gaming. We exist to support disruptive brands and visionary leaders. If you’re looking for the status quo, we’re not the right fit. But if you are breaking sh*t up in your industry and have a strong vision for the future you want to create, then we should probably talk.

One thing that sets us apart is our work with underrepresented leaders. We have partnered with some brilliant thinkers who happen to be first-generation Americans, including people of color, members of the LGBTQ+ community, and people of various faiths and religious backgrounds. Weely built a reputation for championing people and voices of diverse backgrounds, and I’m very proud of that.

I love the longevity of the Flight PR brand. I’m a big fan of aviation and travel, so I’m grateful to have a company name that has stood the test of time and still feels fresh over a decade later.

We love surprises, fun facts, and unexpected stories. Please share something that might surprise us.

Most people might be surprised to learn that I’m very intuitive and often use my intuitive abilities to benefit my clients. I’m also highly sensitive (shout-out to my fellow HSPs!). Although we comprise 15-20% of the population, we don’t see enough representation of highly sensitive people in the workplace.
